Week 3 having students in the building was GRRRREAT~ Students and parents did a wonderful job.  We are excited to welcome all PreK-3rd grade students and 4th and 5th grade Cohort A students on Monday.

A few reminders:

  • All students must wear a mask at all times.
  • Students arriving or leaving campus using carpool should be able to access their vehicle independently. All adults should remain in the car.  With the additional time needed for COVID screenings it is helpful when students can exit the car quickly. In the afternoon students need to quickly enter their car.
  • Please send your child’s device charger to school with them for when the battery gets low during the day.

Positivity Project:

The strength students will be learning about the next 2 weeks is gratitude.  What a great strength to be discussing at this time of year.  Students will learn that gratitude means being aware of and thankful for good things that happen and expressing thankfulness and appreciation.  Out of all 24 strengths, gratitude is the singe best predictor of individual well-being and can self-cultivated.  Help your children express daily one or two things that happened to them that day.

“The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness.” Dalai Lama

Accurate Contact Info:

All of our communication is via emails and texts messages at this point. If you have changed your phone number or email since enrolling your child/ren at HES please email asblackmer@wcpss.net with the accurate information.

Virtual Academy Option:

WCPSS will be deploying a survey December 2 to all elementary families allowing you to indicate if you want your child to enroll in Virtual Academy or come to school face to face for the second semester.  This survey will close on December 9.  Please be having conversations about this now as we will need to make staff adjustments based on parent responses.  This will be a very quick turnaround and changes will not be able to be made after December 9.  Things to consider:  WCPSS is recommending all Pre-K – 5th grade students return in person daily beginning second semester. At that time we would be in Plan A when social distancing is no longer required.
