Assistant Principal Survey:

As you may be aware, our assistant principal, Ms. Monica Crews is retiring on December 31.  We are sad to see Ms. Crew leave Heritage Elementary as she has dedicated so much of her career and expertise to our students, staff an entire community.  We are working hard to find our new AP to begin in January. We need your help to identify, from a parents perspective, the characteristics and traits you desire most in our next AP.  Please click the link above to complete a short survey by Wed. Nov. 20.  Thank you in advance.

We have 177 students at Heritage Elementary that will be receiving 2 FREE tickets to a Hurricane’s game for reading and logging 800 minutes since the end of September.  There is still time. READvolution runs through December 6 and is accessible at school and from home.

Since we have started using Dreambox in October our students have completed 21,481 lessons collectively.  That is AWESOME!  Average student growth is 29%.  Students can access Dreambox from school and at home. When using Dreambox at home students should be working independently so it is a true reflection of their ability. Teachers use the reports in Dreambox to plan individualized instruction based on the data.

We are so excited to share with you a new opportunity we will be offering to selected 4th and 5th grade students called Camp EXCEL – Exploring Challenging Experiences for Learning. Students that performing at Level 4 and 5 on previous EOGs but are not showing adequate growth will be invited to attend one week of Camp EXCEL during their upcoming track-outs.  Students will engage in project based learning involving critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication.  Identified students on tracks 1, 3, and 4 will receive informational letters on Monday November 18.  Track 2 will receive letters when they return in December.  Camp EXCEL begins Jan. 6 for Track 4 students.
