HES Weekly Announcement
HES Weekly Announcements 9.16.19
It felt so good to complete a full week of school last week after a shortened week the week prior due to Hurricane Dorian. We were so fortunate to be spared from flooding and wind damage. I have enjoyed observing quality instruction occurring in all of our classrooms and getting to know students, staff and parents.
The learning for our students has extended beyond our normal instruction. Our kindergarten students have been to Marbles Museum, 4th graders have had Wake Power come for an on-site field trip and we are even reaching outside of NC. Kudos to Ms. Ellenberger’s class for preparing care packages for military deployed overseas.
During the last two weeks I have also been observing several processes and procedures in order to maximize instructional time and ensure a safe campus. We want to clarify and remind you of two procedures:
- All parents need to be prepared to show a picture ID when signing students out of school early.
- We want to maintain a climate of quality core instruction at all times. Early checkouts disrupt the learning of all students in the classroom. Beginning Oct 1, we will no longer call classrooms for early dismissal or transportation changes after 2:30 pm. Transportation changes should occur only in an emergency and should be communicated through the office.
Thank you for your cooperation with these procedures.
A few important reminders:
Sept 19 – PTA Meeting 7:00 p.m.
Sept 23 – Book Fair Begins
Sept 27 – Last Day for Track 4
Sept 30 - Teacher Workday – No School for Students
