HES Weekly Announcements January 7-11

Happy New Year!  We hope you and your family have a happy and healthy 2019!

If your child attends an after school daycare, please contact the facility if your child will not be going home with them on a particular day.  This will help to expedite our dismissal. Thank you!

Publix Math Night
The HES Staff would like to invite you to Publix Math Night on Thursday , February 7 from 6:00 to 7:30. This  is a fun opportunity for students to make that connection about how the math strategies learned in class are used in the supermarket.

Student Sign Out
If you are picking up your child from school through the office, be sure to always sign your child out on the computer.  Thanks!

January Early Release Day
January 18th is NO LONGER an early release day.  It is now a full day of school.

Wake Up and Read
From January 5 to February 15, WAKE Up and Read will collect new and gently-used books for children ages birth to 12.  The goal is to collect 110,000 books – enough to share at thirteen schools, as well as community centers and child care facilities across Wake County.

The WAKE Up and Read campaign was launched in 2012 to address one of the most critical junctures to lifelong success, reading on grade-level by 3rd grade.  This unique community coalition includes education, civic, philanthropic, and business leaders from across Wake County, all working together to help every child develop the necessary skills for success in school and beyond. Our shared goal is to ensure that more children have the tools and resources they need to become lifelong readers and learners.

The walker option for afternoon dismissal applies ONLY to those families that walk home from school.  If you drive to campus to pick up your child(ren), please use carpool. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The Great Kindness Challenge
HES is participating in the Great Kindness Challenge from January 22-February 1.  We would love to have service men and women visit our school to eat lunch with the students.  Please sign into the office prior to going to the cafeteria. Our lunch schedule runs from 10:45-1:30.
