Good afternoon Davis Drive Elementary families, 


Please join me in congratulating DDE’s very own Mrs. Fielder for being the Elementary Media Specialist finalist of the year! We all know how fantastic she is and it is nice to see her being recognized from the larger WCPSS community. One more week until Spring Break… both students and staff are looking forward to time to relax and get back energy to finish the school year strong. Please remind your children that we have a full week of learning (well, 4 days) before break starts. Thank you for your continued support.

Lost & Found

Lost and Found will be displayed outside from Monday, March 27th through Thursday, March 30th. Items will be taken to a donation center on Thursday afternoon at 3pm. 


Student Snacks 

Parents, please make every effort to ensure your child(ren) has their snack each day. In the case of an emergency and the snack is forgotten, the Front Office has a limited supply of snacks for the rest of the year. These snacks are funded through the PTA. If you would like to donate to our School Snack Box, please send the items into the Front Office. 


Spring School Pictures - This Tuesday! March 28th! 

Students will have their picture taken on Tuesday, March 28th. 

Individual and Classroom Group Photos will be taken. 

There are two ways to pay for the Classroom Group Photos:

  1. Pay Online: please go to
    Click “Order Pictures” and enter the following code: FM405448  

Class pictures are $10 and must be ordered in advance. 

  1. Place exact payment of cash or check (checks made payable to Strawbridge Studios, Inc.) in the envelope that will be sent home with your child and return the payment in the envelope on or before March 28th. 

A proof package of your child’s Individual Spring Photos will be sent home 3-4 weeks after Picture Day with information on how to order.

We are just over 4 weeks out from our SPRING CARNIVAL! This year, it will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, 1PM-5PM. I am looking for a team of volunteers to help with some of the key aspects to complete planning the event. Below, you will find a description of what each position entails. Please 



Most donors have managed online transmission of their commitment but some have baskets or physical gift cards that need to be picked up. This can be done on a rolling basis, at your convenience, beginning on March 27 and must be completed by April 19. I have a spreadsheet with donor, location and item information that you will have access to. Make a note of impending pick up, and then note when the item has been picked up. You can aggregate the items at home and drop off to a labeled box in the PTA office at your convenience.



We would like to plan 2 or more games to be prepared and run by PTA volunteers. Tell me your ideas! You will prepare by aggregating all decor and set up needed for the game, including instructions. Ideas/Proposals are due by March 30. We will finalize details by April 10, and the prep must be completed by April 17. You can also be in charge of set up and running the game on Carnival day, but it is not necessary.



I anticipate limited porch drops and one pick up window from outside the school. This is TBD but will occur during the week of April 24. 



We will order the items. You will be in charge of setting up, decorating and organizing the Concessions stand, also with facilitating breakdown. You will supervise sales but will have volunteers so that you do not need to be there the entire time. 



Professional? Hobbyist? Amateur? We'd love to have some images from Carnival Day, of the various activities and everyone out and having fun! This can be done while you enjoy the event with your family. Just upload and share the photos with me after the event. 



Help me create and put together the items needed to stage the school for Carnival. We will purchase, make and aggregate on a rolling basis. Decor will be put up between 10-11AM on Carnival Day, with volunteer assistance.



Using the event map, help participants unload, find their designated locations, and set up on Carnival Day. You will have high school volunteers assisting.



Help participants pack up and help coordinate clean up efforts. Carnival Day. You will have high school volunteers assisting.



Help manage a team of high school volunteers. Direct them to stations, assign jobs/positions. Keep track of time in and time out. Must be good with teenages (= not me).


Clothing Needed for the Health Room: 

The Health Room is asking for donations of male and female clothing in sizes Youth XS through Adult Small. Items needed include: shorts, athletic pants, short sleeve and long sleeve tops. Please make sure all donations are newly washed and dried. Please drop off donations to the Front Office. 


Did Your Child Borrow Clothing From The Health Room Recently? 

Please wash and dry clothing that has been recently used and return the items to the Front Office. Thank you! 


Reminders from the Front Office! 

  • 10:00am - deadline to drop off all snacks and lunches. Please make every effort to send lunches and snacks with your children each day when they arrive at school. If you must bring a snack or lunch after instruction begins, please do so by 10:00am. 

  • 1:15pm - deadline to call the front office with a transportation change. Please do not email the office staff. We listen to all voicemails throughout the day! 

  • 1:30pm - deadline to pick up your child for an early dismissal. Please contact the teacher or the front office if you will pick up your child early from school, especially if your child is in 4th or 5th grade. Calling ahead will ensure that the pick up process is expedited quickly because your child will have their belongings with them while in the building and they will not need to travel back to their trailer.

Carpool Reminders

Thank you for your help with keeping carpool processes safe and running smoothly.  We appreciate you staying in your cars to allow staff to unload students, too.  Please remember that students may only be unloaded from your car while in the designated unloading area in each carpool look and never on Davis Drive, Collins Road, or any other locations on campus.  Unloading outside of the designated areas is not directly supervised and is extremely dangerous.  We care about your children too much to ever have injury accidents happen due to unloading early.  


PTA NEWS - Week of March 26th

  1. Looking to get involved with the PTA??!! - Positions available for the 2023-2024 School Year Include: President, VIce President, and Treasurer.
