Principal Message Week of March 12, 2023

Good afternoon Davis Drive families,

 

It was wonderful to see so many DDE families come out for our International Fair! Celebrating and sharing all the cultures that make up our Dolphin family makes my Principal heart happy :) Thank you to our Parent Engagement School Improvement Plan committee for organizing a fantastic event and of course our families who set up beautiful displays and our students representing their heritage. Like I said Friday night, the arts are alive and well at DDE. Thank you to two fantastic art teachers: Mrs. Houck for the visual art displays and Ms. Clark for the beautiful musical display.  Remember since the clocks went ahead an hour this weekend, carpool tends to be very busy between 7:35-7:45. Set your alarm a few minutes early to save yourself some time at drop-off.

Spring School Pictures - March 28th! 

Students will have their picture taken on Tuesday, March 28th. 

Individual and Classroom Group Photos will be taken. 

There are two ways to pay for the Classroom Group Photos:

  1. Pay Online: please go to www.strawbridge.net
    Click “Order Pictures” and enter the following code: FM405448  

Class pictures are $10 and must be ordered in advance. 

  1. Place exact payment of cash or check (checks made payable to Strawbridge Studios, Inc.) in the envelope that will be sent home with your child and return the payment in the envelope on or before March 28th. 

A proof package of your child’s Individual Spring Photos will be sent home 3-4 weeks after Picture Day with information on how to order. 

Please check your child’s backpack for more information - coming soon!! 

 

Reminders from the Front Office! 

  • 10:00am - deadline to drop off all snacks and lunches. Please make every effort to send lunches and snacks with your children each day when they arrive at school. If you must bring a snack or lunch after instruction begins, please do so by 10:00am. 

  • 1:15pm - deadline to call the front office with a transportation change. Please do not email the office staff. We listen to all voicemails throughout the day! 

  • 1:30pm - deadline to pick up your child for an early dismissal. Please contact the teacher or the front office if you will pick up your child early from school, especially if your child is in 4th or 5th grade. Calling ahead will ensure that the pick up process is expedited quickly because your child will have their belongings with them while in the building and they will not need to travel back to their trailer. 

 

Early Release - 12:15pm 

Friday, March 24th 

11:15am - deadline to call the office with transportation changes. 

11:30am - deadline to pick up your child for an early dismissal.

Field Day - Volunteer Information - Please Read

Field Day Dates: 

May 18th: Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd Grades

May 19th: 3rd, 4th & 5th Grades

May 24th: Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd Grades

May 25th: 3rd, 4th & 5th Grades

 

ALL PARENTS who are interested in volunteering in any capacity for Field Day MUST complete this form!! 

Only parents who complete this form will receive the Sign-Up Genius for Field Day Activities. 

The office staff will verify the volunteer clearance of each parent who completes this form. If you know you still need clearance for this school year, please come to the Front Office between the hours of 8:00-1:00pm. The deadline to register for this event is April 20, 2023.

Carpool Reminders

Thank you for your help with keeping carpool processes safe and running smoothly.  We appreciate you staying in your cars to allow staff to unload students, too.  Please remember that students may only be unloaded from your car while in the designated unloading area in each carpool look and never on Davis Drive, Collins Road, or any other locations on campus.  Unloading outside of the designated areas is not directly supervised and is extremely dangerous.  We care about your children too much to ever have injury accidents happen due to unloading early.  

 

Single Subject Acceleration

Information regarding the Spring 2023 SSA Test Request window is currently available for Davis Drive Elementary. SSA stands for Single Subject Acceleration and is the practice of placing a student in a higher grade level in one subject area.  If you are interested in learning more about the SSA Program, please visit: http://bit.ly/DDESSA

 

This website contains a parent information video, important dates, and the link for Test Requests. The Google Test Request form will not be live until the window opens.

 

PTA NEWS - Week of March 12th

  1. March 18th!THIS Saturday! Duck Donuts Spirit Day - ALL DAY! Stop by Duck Donuts during their regular business hours, grab a sweet treat AND raise money for our school! It’s a Saturday so bring your friends along and have a good time! 

  2. Looking to get involved with the PTA??!! - Positions available for the 2023-2024 School Year Include: President, VIce President, and Treasurer. We are starting to plan for the 2023-2024 School Year and will begin the nomination and election process for several positions. Interested in learning more? E-mail Ashley at ddeptapresident@gmail.co

  3. SAVE THE DATE - Spring Carnival - April 22nd 1:00-5:00pm RAIN or SHINE! 

  4. DOLPHIN DEPOT - The school store is open on a limited schedule for the time being. Open Dates: March 21st, 23rd, April 18th, 20th, May 2nd, 4th, May 16th and 18th Find us in the Front of School from 7:15-7:40am.
