Principal Message Week of September 18, 2022

Good afternoon Davis Drive Elementary families,

First, I need to thank all the families that came out to our campus last weekend to help beautify it. Thank you for your hard work!  I’m so excited that our 3rd-5th graders are helping our environment by composting in the cafeteria! Our PTA has helped support the program by funding Compost Now for our school needs. Students are learning how decreasing our trash helps the environment. As we kick off this program we could use some parent volunteers to help us monitor the sorting process. See details below.

COMPOSTING

Would you like to help the planet in 30 minutes right from DDE? Please consider helping children navigate composting. Training is available for all volunteers! View the sign-up here. Please contact Jessie at VPDDEPTA@gmail.com with your questions!

WRAL Viewers Choice Awards:

The nominations for WRAL Viewers Choice Awards are open. Last year Davis Drive Elementary won in the category of best elementary school and our first grade teacher Mrs. Long won in the category of best teacher. How the process works is that the top 5 vote getters in nomination categories become the entries that get voted on in October. You can submit one nomination per category per day through Oct. 9 on WRAL.com/vcas.
