Week two is in the books! Smiling children (we now look at smiles through their eyes :) everywhere in our building. Learning, re-connecting, and building community is abundant in Davis Drive Elementary classrooms the past two weeks. Our new Kindergarteners are doing such a great job acclimating to the building and routines. Drop-off and pick are continuing to become more efficient. If you have not viewed our videos and pictures please see the information below. I hope you are having a great holiday weekend spending time with your loved ones!

Check your students backpacks for their Friday Folder! The PTA sent home paper copies of our Membership Form, No Fuss Fundraiser Launch and two major events coming up in a couple of weeks! Simply return your completed forms to your classroom teacher.

Carpool Morning Arrival:
We will be having two carpool lines in the morning. For those of you who have been at Davis Drive for awhile it will be how carpool was done a few years ago. Please watch the videos and read the directions. On the Collins Rd arrival area please adhere to the no left turn in/out of the parking lot. There continue to be some near accidents. Remember that everyone travelling up Collins Rd is not necessarily turning into DES. We will continue to keep these traffic modifications to ensure the safety of our students and their families. Please do not get out of your car to let your child out. If your child needs help getting out of the car please put your hazard lights on and someone will be over to help them. If at all possible please have your child sit in the passenger, not the driver, side of the car. This is for safety reasons as cars pull around on the left side.
If you have a new carpool tag please display it. If you do not have a carpool tag yet, you may come to school between the hours of 9a-1p to get one. For those of you who have a tag from last year, please discard it as we have started over with new tags.
Families can find up-to-date transportation information (including route number and stop location) in your student’s Home Base/PowerSchool account. Please be patient with the buses for the first few weeks of school. There is a bus driver shortage and Transportation is constantly updating and accommodating new enrollees to WCPSS.
Please have your child bring a water bottle to school. Our water fountains are not in use at this time and with the weather being hot we want to make sure students do not get dehydrated. If you child forgets their water bottle we will make sure they have water.
For everyone to remain as healthy as possible we need to adhere to the 3Ws
- Wear- face coverings properly over nose, mouth, and under chin
- Wait- Practice physical distancing as much as possible
- Wash- Practice proper hand hygiene
Students will be either eating in either the cafeteria or their classroom. Students will be socially distanced as much as possible. Some classrooms will have different seating arrangements for eating vs learning. We are adjusting as best we can to keep your children safe in our school. There will be seating charts for the purpose of contact tracing. Proper hand hygiene will be practiced by the students and staff during the day including prior to eating and drinking in all areas including the cafeteria. Eating time will be minimized (masks being removed no longer than 15 min as much as possible) and students may talk when masks are back on.
Face Coverings: All staff and students must wear face coverings indoors and on WCPSS and WCPSS vendor transportation. Face coverings are not required outdoors. If you wish for your child to wear a face covering outdoors, please let their teacher know.
Please have your child stay home if experiencing any of these symptoms:
- Fever or chills
- Sore throat
- A new cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell
- Diarrhea or vomiting
- Severe headache, especially with a fever
If your child experiences any of these symptoms while at school, you will be contacted to pick your child up from school and must meet 1 of the 3 pathways below before they may return.
If someone is experiencing one of the Covid-29 symptoms above, they must meet 1 of 3 pathways to return after Covid-19 symptoms.

- Alternate Diagnosis
- Presumed positive
