Davis Drive Elementary Principal's Message Week of January 11, 2021

January 10, 2021

The first week of everyone in virtual learning again is almost complete and it seems like our “new normal” is flexibility and change. Thank you to all of you who have had to adapt your families schedules for these changes. I understand how difficult that can be and my hat is off to you as parents!  I have thoroughly enjoyed my first week as Principal of Davis Drive Elementary. My favorite part was getting into a few online classrooms and meeting the students!

Third Quarter Materials Distribution

Material distribution for Quarter 3 will be on Wednesday, January 13.

We are asking that you arrive during your designated time that correlates with your student’s last name.  You will be able to pick up materials for all of your students who attend DDEs at this time.

Student Last Names Beginning with Letters...

8:00-9:30 am

9:30-11:00 am

11:00am -12:30pm

1:30-3:00 pm

Please display a sign that shows your student’s last name, first name, grade level, and teacher.  Multiple students may be listed on one sign.

All traffic for pick up should approach the campus from Collins Road.  Please follow our traffic pattern for regular carpool procedures which includes entering and exiting on Collins Road.

Once you approach the school’s front entrance, be prepared to share your student’s name.  You will then be directed to a pick-up table.  When you arrive at your pick up table, you may open your trunk or back hatch, and we will place the materials in your car.  If your vehicle is unable to do this, you will be asked to get out of your car and retrieve your materials from the pick-up table.

Due to the limited availability of staff, we are unable to make alternate arrangements for material pick up on this day.  We ask that you do your best to come during your designated time slot.  If you are absolutely unable to come, please ask someone to come in your place during your time slot.

An additional material pick-up for grades 2nd- 5th, will be scheduled in late January/Early February.  These materials will include language arts materials for the next unit.

EL Books Need to be Returned

We have approximately a  50%  return rate on the EL books from 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade from first quarter.  These books would be Nasreen's Secret School, Rain School, Love that Dog, and Esperanza Rising.  Parents, if you have not returned one of these books (2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th) please drop it off when you come for your materials pick up. The county will not be giving these books to us again and we will need them for next year. Thank you!

Calling all Dolphins, Students and Staff:

How Do You Remote (learn)?

Dolphins, we miss seeing all of your smiling faces so it is time to put us all together again, in photos!  If you are a DDE student or staff member we want a photo of you

in your remote learning space so we can create a photo collage to be shared with all DDE families.

Show us where you attend your Google Meets. Whether it is an office, your bedroom, the kitchen table or someplace else; we want to see how you remote learn!  Even though we are not learning in the same space ri now, we can share this experience with each other.

Please submit photos by emailing them to
