Latest News for Our Return To Campus:
We are excited about the coming week -- on Monday, November 16, the first cohort of grades 4 and 5 will return to campus, along with all K-3 and regional program students. The number of students in K-3 classrooms will increase. All schools will continue to social distance whenever possible, but K-3 classrooms are not expected to maintain six feet of space between desks or students if space does not allow. All students should continue to stay apart from other students and employees to maintain as much social distancing as possible.
Specifically for Davis Drive Elementary K - 3 students will be in homeroom groups rather than split into two groups. The seating arrangement in Davis Drive Elementary classrooms allow for six feet between desks and tables. We have moved extra furniture from classrooms to ensure that our classrooms continue to allow for six-feet between students within classrooms. There may be some transitions where students may be less than six feet apart for a short period of time. We have marked our halls to indicate spacing and staff will remind students to maintain social distancing.
Expectation for On-TIme Arrival / Breakfast:
For students arriving at school, our doors open at 7:15 for students. Students are expected to be in class and involved in classroom activities by 7:45am. It is best to arrive before 7:35 each day. If students arrive after 7:42 in the carpool line, they are unlikely to make it to class on time and may be marked as late for school. Arriving before 7:35 ensures that students have time to enter the classroom and prepare for the school day. All students who plan to eat breakfast at school from the cafeteria need to arrive on campus between 7:15-7:30. Our cafeteria will stop serving breakfast at 7:35 so that the children can finish eating and be in their classrooms by 7:45. All children need to be in their classrooms ready to learn by 7:45.
From our Counselors:
The Davis Drive Holiday Cheer Program is a gift-giving program for families in need. The program's goal is to assist DDE families in need with gifts for their children to ensure they have a happy holiday season. If you need assistance providing gifts for your children this year, please contact us at this email to let us know. Include your name and your children's names.
Important: Did a student/employee go home sick? Please remember that all household members must also go home.
Effective immediately, if a WCPSS student or employee does not pass the health screening or if they stay home or are sent home because they are experiencing a symptom of illness, their household members must also stay home. This means that any WCPSS student or employee living in the same house must quarantine for 14 days. The household members may return sooner than 14 days if the person experiencing a symptom of illness receives confirmation of an alternate diagnosis or a negative PCR/Molecular test.
