Davis Drive Elementary School -- Principal Message for the Week of September 6, 2020
Hello Davis Drive Elementary School Families. This is the weekly Principal’s Message for the Week of September 6, 2020. We are working to establish routines for our online instruction and we understand that this may be challenging at times for families and for staff. The good news is that as we progress, it becomes more clear and our teachers are working together to establish procedures. One important factor is reaching a balance that will work for your family. For example, parents may wonder how much assistance to offer their children. We want our children to be independent and yet we want to help where needed. Our hope is that children can be independent in their work. We understand that parents have work responsibilities as well. We think it is a good idea to communicate with your children about school and to ask questions about their work. Avoid completing work for your children. We consider live meets to be similar to the classroom. When possible, it is a good idea for your child to work from a place in your home that is free of distractions.
We are planning to hold evening online-open house presentations within the next month. During these open house sessions, each grade level will provide additional details about student expectations, online learning, and our school schedule.
Decisions about schools opening are being made by our central services. These decisions are based on many factors. Our school system sends regular updates to families using school messenger. In addition, you may view updates at https://www.wcpss.net/returntocampus.
Our PTA supports our school in many ways. If you have not joined the PTA, please consider joining. The Davis Drive Elementary PTA Website is http://www.ddepta.org/. On Wednesday, September 30, our PTA will sponsor a School Spirit Night with online ordering for pickup at Chipotle -- 1516 Village Market Place in Morrisville. Information about this event is attached HERE.
There is no school on Monday, September 7 in recognition of the Labor Day Holiday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. We look forward to seeing our students online.
