Davis Drive Elementary Principal's Message For Week of August 30, 2020
Hello Davis Drive Elementary Families. This is the Davis Drive Elementary Weekly Principal’s Message for the week of August 30, 2020. It was so exciting to see our students and families during the material distributions this past week. Our staff has worked hard these past two weeks to establish online procedures for students, distributing materials, and establishing communication with families. For the coming weeks, our teachers will focus on our curriculum objectives in each grade level. Please be sure to let us know if your contact information changes. For now much of our communication will need to be online rather than in-person. If you have questions for your child’s teacher, the first point of contact should be using email. If you call the school, our office staff will answer the phone and will get messages to teachers. If our voice mail answers the phone, we ask that you leave a message for us to return your call. We want to be responsive to our community and we appreciate your understanding that we continue to work through new ways to communicate with our school community.
Our full schedule for online learning begins this coming week. Our specialists (Art, Music, PE, STEM, and Technology) will be included in the daily schedules. We look forward to a week of online learning. Daily attendance is very important for our school. Teachers are required to record daily attendance for our school. Please let us know if you have questions. Please review Digital Davey’s SWIM Expectations for Online Learning HERE. Following these expectations will help to maintain focus on learning and teaching.
Before the school year ended this past year, our school participated in a fundraising campaign for the American Heart Association. Our efforts in this area received the recognition of a school in the top ten schools in Wake County for supporting the American Heart Association.
From the Davis Drive Elementary Media Center:
- Curbside Pickup of media center books is available 8 am - 3 pm every school day.
- You will know that you have a book to pick up when you receive an email from Mrs. Fiedler. Please add sfiedler@wcpss.net to your contacts list to avoid email notifications going to your spam folder.
- There is a book return bin outside of the school's front door to return books during the school day
- Have you lost a book? You can now pay for lost books online.
Our PTA continues to support our school and your membership in the organization will go a long way. While our cultural arts assemblies and some programs may be limited this year. The PTA continues to support teachers, curriculum, and our community. Our PTA helps our school update our media center materials, enhance technology, and support teachers. Consider becoming a PTA Member and donating to our PTA.
