Davis Drive Elementary Principal's Message Week of December 15

Hello Davis Drive Elementary School families.  This is the weekly message for the week of December 15, 2019.  One full week of school before our winter / holiday break. Originally Friday, December 20 was designated as a workday.  However, Friday is now a regular school day. Looking ahead to the week after next, we wish for you and your family the very best during this holiday season.  Enjoy the time with your family and know that the Davis Drive Community is supportive of our children. We work as a village to instill respect and kindness toward others.

Last week our fifth grade chorus students had an amazing performance.  Thanks to Ms. Clark for directing “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and thank you to our students for their hard work.

I continue to hear concerns from parents and community members about morning carpool and left turns onto Davis Drive.  The Cary Police Department and our central services is monitoring this situation and the recommendation is that morning carpool traffic should only turn right to exit onto Davis Drive.  There are several options beyond the school to turn around. Recommendations continue to be that students arrive before 7:35 because between 7:35 and 7:45 are the most difficult times for the traffic on Davis Drive.  Cars turning left on Davis Drive from our school make it difficult for bus drivers to see oncoming traffic. We really need for our cars to only turn right onto Davis Drive during morning carpool. We need the assistance of all carpool families who use the Davis Drive loop to help with this.

We look forward to the coming week at school.  After next week, our school will be closed for two weeks.  We look forward to our students returning to school on January 6, 2020.
