Book donations needed for WAKE UP and READ

Davis Drive Elementary families,  we need your new and gently used children’s books! From January 21st to January 25th, DDE will collect new and gently-used books for children ages birth to 12 for WAKE UP and READ.  The WAKE UP and READ goal is to collect 110,000 books – enough to share at thirteen schools, as well as community centers and child care facilities across Wake County.

The WAKE Up and Read campaign was launched in 2012 to address one of the most critical junctures to lifelong success, reading on grade-level by 3rd grade.  This unique community coalition includes education, civic, philanthropic, and business leaders from across Wake County, all working together to help every child develop the necessary skills for success in school and beyond. Our shared goal is to ensure that more children have the tools and resources they need to become lifelong readers and learners.

Davis Drive Elementary can make a difference by donating books!  Please bring your books to school and fill our collection boxes starting January 21st. We will also be collecting books during our  January 24th Parent Academy event. Please start looking through your books to find some to donate to this great organization for the children of Wake County.
