January 24 Weekly Message
Here is the Pleasant Grove Weekly Message for January 24 - 28
What this week of school will look like:
Follow updates from WCPSS on local media, social media, and radio to learn if schools will operate on any delayed schedules to begin the week.
Report Cards will go home on Monday, January 24, if school is in session.
Students will continue mid-year assessments this week. These assessments are not graded. Instead, they are used to see how well your child has progressed with their academic skills.
Students who attend in-person instruction should wear masks and bring a water bottle to school.
On Wednesday, January 26, a virtual session for families regarding Internet Safety will occur at 7 PM. Scroll down to the PTA Updates section of this newsletter for details about how to sign up for this event.
Friday, January 28 is a School Spirit Day. Students are encouraged to wear their Pleasant Grove spiritwear and school colors.
The Positivity theme for this week will continue to be Perseverance.
Families should check the district bus updates website each morning for the status of specific buses. For your convenience you can access the site at this link or from the Pleasant Grove website.
COVID QUARANTINES
Important COVID-19 quarantine and isolation requirements are listed online at wcpss.net/whentoreturn.
Last week several families notified us that their child tested positive. We contacted many other families of students who were possibly exposed so that they could quarantine.
Thank you all for your continued assistance with steps to keep students healthy at school. If your child is not feeling well, or experiencing symptoms like headache, runny nose, chest congestion, nasal congestion, or temperature, then they should stay home.
COVID Vaccinations: Visit YourSpotYourShot.nc.gov for more information and to find a free vaccination site in your area.
APPLICATIONS FOR 2022-2023 MEAL BENEFITS
Families should apply for meal benefits for next year as soon as possible. For every student who turns in the free and reduced lunch application and qualifies, the school becomes eligible for additional funds for services for students, especially students who are struggling in reading or math. Also, the NC Department of Health & Human Services uses free and reduced lunch and attendance data to determine any additional Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) that will be issued in the coming months! By not applying for these meal benefits, you will miss the potential opportunity to receive direct P-EBT funds for your family. Information about meal benefits can be found at www.wcpss.net/meals and the application to complete online is at https://www.myschoolapps.com/ .
BUS TRANSPORTATION UPDATES
Because of impacts from the pandemic, we encourage all families to check the status of their child’s bus each morning at www.wcpss.net/busupdate .
