January 11 Weekly Message
Hello Flyer Families!
Here is important school information for the week.
What will this week of school look like:
All students will complete remote learning instruction each day this week. Students should check their Google Classroom for details about their daily schedule for live instruction.
On Wednesday, January 13, all Students (Virtual Academy and In-Person) will complete Asynchronous Remote Learning Activities. On this day student attendance will be taken based on the work that students complete on their assignments from their teacher. Your child should be sure to check their Teacher’s Google Classroom to find their assignments for the day.
The Positivity Focus for this week is Prudence.
Second Semester: The Second Semester will begin on January 20. There are many families who have chosen to switch from In-Person learning to Virtual Academy or from Virtual Academy to In-Person learning. If your child has registered to switch learning environments, then the new teacher who will be working with your child will reach out to you this week to make introductions and share information with you about Second Semester.
School Picture Day: Virtual Academy Families will have the opportunity to get their child’s picture taken on Tuesday, January 19, between 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. This is a day when the school is closed for students so it will allow for individual appointment times and social distancing. We hope that our Virtual Academy students can take advantage of this opportunity. Visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0E4EADAA2B0-fall to register and select your picture appointment time. A separate Picture Day for students who attend In-Person will occur in February.
Health and Safety: If your child has been in the Fall Virtual Academy and will return to school during the second semester, you must complete both of these forms:

Families who speak Spanish can use this link to learn more information describing the return to in-person learning for their child.
Parks and Recreation Before-School and After-School Programs: Raleigh Parks and Recreation is excited to offer a Before School Program hosted at Pleasant Grove. You can register your child by visiting https://raleighnc.gov/SupportPages/school-x-press . The program cap will be 24 participants. Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, information about closing or delay of school is available at www.wcpss.net, local television, and on the radio. During the 2020-2021 school year, an asynchronous learning day will be used when the weather prevents students from having in-person classes. No make-up day will be required. Families will continue to receive an email and text message from WCPSS when the school day is modified due to inclement weather.

PTA Family Night: Wednesday, January 27, 4 PM – 9 PM at Jason’s Deli, 8421 Brier Creek Parkway. A portion of proceeds will go to support the PTA Teacher Fund.
