September 14 Weekly Message
Hello Pleasant Grove Families,
I hope that you and your children are doing well. This is Principal Batten sharing an update about what to expect for the upcoming week at Pleasant Grove Elementary.
What will this week of school look like: This week we will introduce two programs that many returning students are already familiar using.
First, teachers will begin using the Positivity Project (P2) in morning meetings with students. This is the third year that the Positivity Project has been part of the character education work at Pleasant Grove. This week, students will learn about the five key elements of the Positivity Project that focus on building empathy and positive relationships with others. This year, P2 has developed P2 for Families to help families bring the P2 conversation home. Check it out.
Second, teachers in grades K-5 also will begin introducing students to how we will use the Istation reading program this year. All students K-5 will take an Istation reading assessment in the coming weeks. This assessment does not count as a grade, but will provide our staff with valuable information on how to better meet your child’s instructional needs with reading. Teachers will model the program before asking students to take the assessment. More information will be coming soon on how to access and use this resource.
Health Assessment & Immunization Updates: All immunization requirements and health assessments are due September 30, 2020. Students will be granted a 30-day grace period which expires on October 30, 2020. This means students will be excluded from school (in-person or virtually) on October 31, 2020. Families of Kindergarten students should make sure to complete this process before the deadline.
