Pleasant Grove Family Update – April 7, 2021
Health and Safety Update: Starting Wednesday, April 7, Pleasant Grove Elementary will no longer conduct on-site health screenings during daily arrivals based on guidance from WCPSS and state health officials.
Help us keep all of our staff members, students and families healthy. Please keep your student home if they are not feeling well or have been diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19. Please understand that students will be expected to go home if they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- Sick or experiencing symptoms of illness
- 4° fever or higher
- Sore throat
- New cough
- New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell
- Diarrhea or vomiting
- New severe headache
We must all do our part to keep our school community healthy. Thank you for your cooperation.
Guidance Update for Handling Suspected, Presumptive, or Positive Cases of COVID-19: To align with updated guidance from the NC Department of Health and Human Services, we have updated our protocols for handling suspected, presumptive, or positive cases of COVID-19. We’ve updated our list of symptoms that should prompt a student, employee, or visitor to stay home, so that it now includes fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, sore throat, new cough, new difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, new loss of taste of smell, diarrhea or vomiting, or the new onset of a severe headache. In addition, effective immediately, household members are no longer required to stay home if a student or employee living in the same household is experiencing a symptom of illness, but has not been diagnosed with COVID-19. Students are required to quarantine if someone they live with has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
New Phone Number for Technology Help Desk: The phone number to reach the Student Technology Help Desk is changing to 919-664-5700. Callers will be prompted to indicate they are calling as a student/parent/guardian, or as a WCPSS staff member.
Fourth Quarter Material Distribution: All K-5 Virtual Academy Families will be able to pick up Instructional Materials for their child on Wednesday, April 14, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM. Students who attend school in-person do not need to participate because they will receive materials directly from their classroom teacher.
End of Grade Testing: As part of state and federal legislation, students in grades 3-8 are administered the End of Grade (EOG) tests at the end of the school year. The state is requiring these tests to be administered in person. In order for Pleasant Grove to plan appropriately, we need to know how many Virtual Academy students will attend during test days to take their tests. Please use this link, http://bit.ly/2021pgeseog , to respond. If you have more than one Virtual Academy student in grades 3-8, please complete this form separately for each student.
Remote Learning Days: Mark your calendars. Currently, WCPSS still has the following days designated as Remote Learning Days for all students (In-person and Virtual Academy).
- April 14
- April 28
- May 5
- May 26
