Single Subject Acceleration is a practice that the Wake County Public School System uses to assign a student to a higher grade level class than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in Math or English Language Arts.
To be considered for this acceleration a student must first be nominated by either a parent, guardian, or teacher. All students who are nominated must be assessed in order to determine if they qualify for this rigorous practice.
The Nomination Window for families at Traditional Calendar Schools to nominate their child for Single Subject Acceleration in either Math or English Language Arts for the upcoming 2019 - 2020 school year will run from April 23 - May 6, 2019. Nominations must be submitted to your child's school during this time. Nominations officially close at the end of the day on May 6.
