Signing Day: Vernon Malone College & Career Academy seniors are ready to join the workforce

Vernon Malone College and Career Academy on Wednesday held its annual Signing Day, where graduating seniors sign contracts for full-time employment.
 
Vernon Malone is a unique high school that, in partnership with Wake Technical Community College, gives students the opportunity to complete studies in one of six career pathways: Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology, Cosmetology, Facility Maintenance Technology, Nurse Aide, Simulation & Game Development, and Welding.
 
The school has partnerships with many businesses that provide on-the-job training for students while still in high school. Business representatives on Wednesday praised the students for their work ethic and eagerness to learn, while also expressing their appreciation for the exceptional job training and mentorship that Vernon Malone provides.
 
Students that signed on for full-time employment on Wednesday were: 
  • Charlie Cabrera Lopez and Tyler Alston - Piedmont Service Group
  • Kentaro Clark and Jaden Rodriguez  - Carolina Commercial Systems
  • Stephen Stoddard - Newcomb & Company 
  • Jose Castillo  - U.S. Marine Corps
  • Autumn Caldwell - Pruitt Health
  • Janiya Crossman  - Avid Home Health 
In addition, the school awarded $500 scholarships to outstanding students in each of its course areas:
  • Biotechnology - Tatiana Lubik
  • Cosmetology - Valeria Ramirez-Rojas and Audrey Detroy
  • Facility Maintenance Technology - Jason Kucma
  • Nurse Aide - Autumn Caldwell
  • Simulation & Game Development - Ian Woodard
  • Welding - Jose Hernandez Melgar
And BOMA awarded brand-new tool bags to the following outstanding students:

  • Charlie Cabrera-Lopez
  • Johan Garcia-Mercado
  • Luis Infante
  • Damion Spooner
  • Will Stephenson
  • Stephen Stoddard
