Attendance Policy @ HRMS
Holly Ridge Middle School will be implementing a school-wide Tardy Policy effective November 1, 2017. Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and on the job.
- At 4 unexcused tardies, students will receive a copy of tardy letter to take home as well as parents will receive a letter by mail.
- At 6 unexcused tardies, students will be assigned a 2 day administrative lunch detention, a letter with the assigned dates will be given to the student and mailed home to parents.
- After accumulating between 7-10 unexcused tardies student's will be referred to his/her grade level guidance counselor.
- After accumulating 11 or more unexcused tardies student's will be referred to the school social worker.
Let's work together to ensure every student at Holly Ridge Middle School succeeds.
Policy Code: 4400 Attendance
B. EXCUSED ABSENCES
When a student must miss school, a written excuse signed by a parent or guardian must be presented to the student’s teacher or attendance office within two days of the student’s return after an absence. Absences due to extended illnesses may also require a statement from a physician. Failure to submit a written excuse will result in the absence being coded unexcused.
Notes may be submitted in the Front Office, with your child’s homeroom teacher, or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
