Message From Our Principal
Greetings, Highcroft families! I am so excited about our upcoming ‘Movie Night’ sponsored by our fabulous PTA. We will watch ‘Despicable Me’ as well as enjoy refreshments and food trucks. This event is rain or shine! If weather does not permit us to be outside, we will move the event into the gym. Remember, no chairs permitted, blankets only (unless a physical condition requires a chair). Be sure to buy your tickets today, $6 for members and $8 for non-members.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
Have a wonderful rest of your week!
Catherine Shearin, Principal
Snow Angels
Each year, our PTA and Student Support staff offer a ‘Snow Angels’ program. This is meant to provide support for families who need holiday assistance with gifts. Below is the link for families to sign up. Please note that family information will be kept confidential. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSekD68phQ1kIvzZqIq-EZjCgSK4YTV7kzQ9XKo4EHVd0D613Q/viewform?usp=sf_link
Donors Choose Project Needs Funding
We are almost completely funded for our new Donors Choose project! This great project will fund 4th grade supplementary EL texts for each of our 4th grade classrooms. Please consider donating to this important project.

Thanksgiving Holiday Break
We will not have school next Wednesday, November 22nd - Friday, November 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I hope you all have a wonderful time off with your families and find ways to celebrate what your family is thankful for. We are thankful for each and every one of you!
Phones, Smartwatches, etc.
If any K-5 student brings a cellphone, smartwatch, or other technology device to school, they will be expected to keep the device(s) in their backpacks during the school day. These devices are not needed in the classroom and can cause distractions to students. If a student needs to contact a parent, they can go to the office to call home.
Energy Saving Kits from Duke Energy
Duke Energy is offering free energy saving kits to the families at Highcroft. You can sign up for your kit at www.myenergykit.org. If our school has at least 32 qualified kit requests, Highcroft will win $100. If our school gets the most sign-ups of any school participating this semester, we will win $2023. What a great way to close out the year! It’s an easy process to win money for our school. Just click the link above. Thank you!
Old (but important) News!
Parent ID
Please make sure you bring your Photo ID every time you come to come to school. Our new Visitor Management System requires a photo ID each time you sign in to visit a classroom/lunch and each time you sign in or out your child.
Kindergarten Registration
Believe it or not, it’s already time to start thinking about enrollment for next year. If you or anyone you know has a rising kindergartener, please let them know that Kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year will open up on Oct 16, 2023
PTA
Please take a few minutes to join the Highcroft PTA. By joining the PTA you are supporting all of the wonderful things PTA does for our school and for your children. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to support our school. You can join electronically at HDES PTA Website
Here Comes the Bus
WCPSS Transportation offers families of students who ride a bus to or from school a service called ‘Here Comes the Bus’. This allows families to track buses and see how close the buses are to your stop. HDES no longer utilizes Twitter to announce bus departure times.
You will need the WCPSS school code (67500) and your student’s ID number to create an account. Use the link below for specific instructions on downloading and utilizing the app.
