Message From Our Principal

Hello, Highcroft families!  We have had an amazing start to the 2023-24 school year.  It has been so great to see all of our smiling faces back in our building.  I hope you all have also had a wonderful start to the school year.  Do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.

Remember, there is no school on Monday, September 4th for the Labor Day Holiday.  We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, 9/5.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Catherine Shearin, Principal

Volunteer Registration

WCPSS has a new system for volunteer approval which should be more efficient.  All parents must complete the volunteer registration this year, even if it was completed last year.  However, the registration can be completed from home this year and does not need to be started at a school site.  Information can be found on the WCPSS website or at this link.

New Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Our new arrival/dismissal procedures are going great!  Thanks to all families for entering the school at the front entrance each morning.  We have been working diligently on dismissal tags this week to ensure that all students have the correct tags.  Please communicate with your child (and teacher) to discuss any changes from typical dismissal procedures.  If you do not receive confirmation from your teacher, please call the front office so we can ensure that your child and teacher are aware of the change.

Since the installation of the new crosswalk on Green Hope School Rd, walker tags have been approved for students who need to cross that street to get home.  Please talk with your child about safely crossing this busy road.

New Visitor Management System

All visitors to our campus must sign in at the office with the new Visitor Management System.  All parents and visitors must present a photo ID when entering the building or checking out a student.  Please come prepared with your drivers license or other photo ID.

Meet the Teacher/Open House for Kindergarteners

We are so excited to welcome Kindergarten families for the Kindergarten Meet the Teacher/Open House on Friday, September 1st from 1:00 - 2:00.  Kindergarten families will receive an email from their child’s assigned teacher at 11:00 that morning.  Families and students are invited to come in from 1:00 - 2:00 to meet their teacher, drop off supplies, ask questions, etc.  Families will also be able to get carpool tags, walker agreements, join PTA, buy spirit wear, etc.

Kindergarten/New Family Kickoff – 9:15 a.m. Sept. 5th
All Kindergarten and new families to Highcroft are invited to join us Tuesday morning September 5th for the Kindergarten Parent and New Family Kickoff. We will meet in the Highcroft Cafeteria and hear from Principal Shearin, our school counselors and members of our PTA Board. Learn about what our amazing PTA does and ways you can be involved. A light breakfast, coffee and juice will be provided. Don't miss a great opportunity to check out our awesome school spirit wear, participate in an exciting raffle and meet parents in your child's classroom.

Old (but important) News!

Eating Lunch With Students

As you can imagine, the first few weeks of school are all about learning routines and expectations.  For that reason we are asking that parents not come to school during lunch time until we have all had a chance to acclimate to school.  Please do not plan to join your child for lunch until the week of, 9/11/23.  After that time we welcome you to join your child for lunch.  Please refrain from bringing outside food for your child.  You are welcome to purchase lunch from the cafeteria or you can bring your own lunch from home.  Fast food, pizza, etc. is not allowed in the cafeteria at any time.
