Hello, Rolesville MS Families, this is Ms. Cooper with a weekly update! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! On behalf the RMS staff, I would like to wish each of a Happy Holiday Season and a Wonderful New Year! Please take time to enjoy your loved ones and to make memories. I look forward to seeing your student on January 3!
- Early Release: Wednesday, December 21. We will dismiss at 1:00. Students should be picked up by 1:30.
- Track 4: Return Date is January 19
- Holiday Spirit Days: Monday, December 19-Wednesday, December 21
- Monday-Pajama Day
- Tuesday: Ugly Sweater Day
- Wednesday: Holiday Vacation or Candy Cane Colors Attire
*Students must follow WCPSS Student Dress Code daily.
- Second Semester Elective Changes: Students who want to change electives must do so within the first week of track in. Any change requests after the first week must be approved by the principal. Electives for quarter 3 may only be changed for the following reasons:
- Student did not get one of their primary or alternate choices
- Student wishes to leave a year-long elective
- Student has an error on the schedule (e.g., Has already taken the class, did not have the pre-requisite class, etc.)
All elective changes require students to obtain a change request form in Student Services that must be signed by the parent. All signed forms must be turned in by Friday of the week of track in
- Attention parents of rising 9th graders: There will be an informative presentation for parents regarding high school requirements, registration procedures, and more on Thursday January 26th at 6:00 pm. Save the date!
- Bus Riders: Parents, we recognize the driver shortage is extremely difficult on the families of students who ride the bus. While it is out of our control, we do want to make sure you feel supported. We will excuse all absences and/or tardies related to bus issues. If your child is unable to make it school due to the driver shortage, please message their teachers and we will make sure there are assignments placed in Google Classroom or Canvas for your child to work on. Also, please be sure to log on to the Here Comes the Bus app for update information on buses daily.
- Dr. Applewhite Update: Dr. Applewhite, our 7th grade assistant Principal, has decided to retire effective December 31. If you or your child would like to send a note or card to be given to him, please do so by December 21. Thank you in advance! He will be greatly missed!
- NJHS Clothes Drive: Please join the National Junior Honor Society in collecting clothes for our Winter Clothes Drive December 8th -20th. We are asking for new or gently used items for the RMS clothing closet and Note in the Pocket clothing organization. Students can drop off clothing in the box in the main lobby. - Interim AP: Please join me in welcoming Mr. Douglas Cox to RMS. He is a retired assistant principal who will be with us thru December. Mr. Cox will be supporting 7th grade student, teachers and parents. Please reach out to him with any questions or concerns.
- Dress Code: Parents, we have been giving much grace and many warnings for dress code violations during first quarter. Students will be asked to change if they come to school inappropriately dressed. This includes students who continue to wear the hoods from their hoodies, pajama pants, bedroom shoes and mid-drift shirts. I want to bring this your attention, so you can discuss the dress code policy linked below with your child before he/she returns on Tuesday. - Year-Round Calendar Update: June 19 is now teacher workdays and no school for students. Please plan accordingly.

• Cambios de asignaturas optativas del segundo semestre: los estudiantes que deseen cambiar de asignaturas optativas deben hacerlo dentro de la primera semana de seguimiento. Cualquier solicitud de cambio después de la primera semana debe ser aprobada por el director. Las materias optativas para el trimestre 3 solo se pueden cambiar por las siguientes razones:
o El estudiante no obtuvo una de sus opciones primarias o alternativas
o El estudiante desea dejar una materia optativa de un año
o El estudiante tiene un error en el horario (p. ej., ya tomó la clase, no tuvo la clase de requisito previo, etc.)
