Dear Rams Families
I hope everyone has had a great week! We hope track 4 has a great track out and look forward to seeing all of our track 1 students on Monday.
1. Home Sporting Events: Next week we will host our first home sporting events for this year. On Wednesday girls’ soccer and volleyball will be in action. On Thursday the football team will be in action. All teams will be playing against Heritage. Please see these important items about attending games next week:
a. Students who wish to attend a game must first take their regular way home and then be brought back for the game, which begins at 4:00 pm. This year, we are limited in our ability to supervise students from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm as we have done in the past. Additionally, students would need to stay inside, which means they would have to keep their face covering on theentire time. Students must also be picked up in a timely manner at the conclusion of the event.
b. For volleyball, which is inside, spectators must keep their face covering on at all times. It must fit properly over the mouth and nose. Those not wearing their face covering properly will be asked to do so. Failure to comply with wearing a face covering will result in the spectator being asked to leave.
c. For football and soccer, which is outside, face coverings are not required because they are outside events. However, we do still encourage spectators to wear them to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
d. In all events, please do your best to maintain social distancing in the stands.
2. TikTok Challenge – October: It has been shared on social media that the challenge for October is to smack a staff member’s “butt”. Please speak with your child about this. Please also know that if a student puts their hands on a staff member they will be suspended out of school. It will also be reported to the School Resource Officer. This is unacceptable behavior.
3. 8th Graders: HS options for next year: Beginning October 15th students are invited to apply to early colleges and magnet schools. Early colleges help students earn up to two years of FREE college credits. Please visit this link to find out about upcoming virtual sessions as well as other application information. When students are ready to apply, they can view this video tutorial.
For questions regarding magnet and/or early colleges, please reach out to Tamani Anderson-Powell at tanderson-powell@wcpss.net.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Thaddeus Sherman
