Dear RMS Parents and Families,
I wanted to touch base about a few important items as we get closer to the first day of school.
- Drive Thru Supplies/Materials Pick-Up: We have passed out 960 folders over the past two days. It was great to see so many of you. This means we have connected with 85% of our families. We have 160 folders left. Please spread the word about a final pick-up time for anyone who still needs their folders. It is critical families get this information for the first day of school. Send a friend, send a neighbor or anyone who may be able to pick up your folder if you’re not able to get to school.
Final Pick Up: Friday morning from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
- Remote Learning Website: We are excited to share our “Remote Learning HQ” This will be your “one-stop shop” for all things related to this school year. We have made it really easy to find the information you need without navigating our entire website. At the top of our school website (http://www.wcpss.net/rolesvillems) you will see the “Remote Learning HQ” link. Be sure to check it out now to see the many resources available to students and parents.
- Student Information Form: In each folder is a page with a link to complete student contact information. It is critical you complete this form so we can current information.
- Wake ID: One of the most critical items in first day folders is information about students being able to log in with their Wake ID. Please practice this now. Your child will need to be logged into their Wake ID for you to attend “Meet the Teacher”. Those are scheduled for tonight or tomorrow and the information is in your folder. If your child is having trouble with their Wake ID password, please email your child’s teacher and they can re-set it for you/.
- Teacher Absences: Just like if we were attending school in person, there are times when teachers will be absent. As you know, we all have things that come up from time to time that require us to be away from work. We are working on a process for when this happens so students and parents are informed.
You can expect to be notified if the teacher knows they will be absent. They will work to provide contact information for another teacher of that subject and grade level should students have questions or need assistance on that day. When absences are unexpected, which we also know can happen, we are working to provide a school contact for students to check in with and get assistance.
- Student Device Pick-Up Information: If you did not sign up for a device through the WCPSS survey a couple of weeks ago, please complete the survey regarding device needs in your child’s first day folder. We are working on a second round of distribution once we’ve gathered additional information.
I hope everyone has a great!
Sincerely,
Thaddeus Sherman
Principal
