I apologize for an increase in emails that I am sending. I am hopeful you will find them helpful as we continue to work to keep you informed. The most important items of note in today’s message are item #2 and #3.
- I apologize for the confusion in my message yesterday. To reiterate, the school is NOT open today for medicine pick up or for students to get items from their locker. Medicine pick up will be next Wednesday from 11 – 3. We are anticipating another window of time soon for students to be able to pick up items but are awaiting some additional guidance around that.
- While we are still in the window of time considered supplemental/optional learning activities, we know that you are ready for specific resources for your students from RMS teachers, and we are moving forward under the guidelines sent to parents yesterday from Wake County Public Schools.
To get started with our remote learning, we would like to share these grade-level resources (linked below). These are optional, review activities and resources from the four core classes (math, ELA, science, and social studies) that students can use to familiarize themselves with some online learning platforms.
Please know that our teacher teams have worked together for all students and will continue to do so to help our RMS students advance their learning! You will see teachers adding information in the coming days, so please check back often! Thank you for your support!
We consider this a transition from the broad WCPSS Remote Learning Resources to a more specific list of resources relevant to your child’s learning in classes at RMS, taught by their specific teachers and in preparation for the remote learning and teaching that will begin in April.
Please continue to be in touch with your child’s teachers should you have questions specific to activities and resources listed.
We will also be placing a link to these at the top of our webpage for easy access.
- Please be on the lookout for an email from one of your child’s teachers in the next couple of days. It will be a link to a Google form. It is critical you complete this as we prepare for the next phase of Remote learning and teaching. The information gathered through this form will help to ensure efficient communication as well as make any preparations to support students who may require a device or internet connectivity.
- We are in the process of completing refunds for field trips. Due to the high cost of the 8th grade Washington D.C trip we are working to get those refunds issued first. Please know this is a tremendous undertaking and we are still working with field trip companies for refunds in order to process parent refunds. We are hoping to be able to begin sending refund checks no later than April 10th. Please know that timeline could change depending on a variety of factors. We will keep you informed of this process and any adjustments to that date.
As I have mentioned before, we are in uncharted territory and everyday seems to be a new challenge or obstacle, but I can tell you with certainty we are hitting them head on and working to do our very best to support all students and families. We will continue to keep you informed and do our very best in these uncertain times. We appreciate your continued grace, understanding, and flexibility.
