Dear RMS Parents and Families,

I hope that you and your family are doing well during these uncertain times.  I have tried to come up with a word other than “unprecedented”, but it seems to capture our current situation.

First and foremost, I want you to know that should you need anything at all please reach out to me.  If it’s food, a family in need, questions…anything at all please let me know.

One thing we know you need is some structure and routine for students around learning and teaching.  Obviously, that looks drastically different than ever before.  WCPSS has released a website, “Remote Learning Resources”:

This site is broken down by level and subject.  Please note a couple of important items:

No NEW material is listed.  This is simply supplemental/optional learning activities to reinforce previously taught skills.

None of the information found on the site will be collected or graded.
Teachers were provided access to the WCPSS Remote Learning Resources website yesterday. Your teachers, in turn, may be in contact with you with more class-specific information about keeping your child engaged.

In the meantime, it is important that all of us - families, students, administrators, and the community - recognize and understand that some of our teachers are also struggling during this pandemic.

Many have children or older family members of their own who depend on them. To that end, we ask that you please be considerate of your teacher’s personal situation. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted everyone’s life.

We will continue to keep you updated and informed as new information is shared.  As you are aware, this is an ever-changing situation and we will continue to adapt and adjust as we move forward.

In Faith,

Thaddeus Sherman
