February 8, 2019

Dear RMS Families-

I hope everyone has had a great week!  Here are the important notes and updates for this week:

1. Spring pictures for tracks 1, 2, and 4 will be next Thursday, February 14th.

2. With Valentine’s Day next week, please be reminded that balloons and other large objects (think big teddy bears) should not be brought to school.  Additionally, there should be no items delivered to school for students.

3. Congratulations to both basketball teams on their victories this past week.  Our final home game of the season is this coming Monday against Wake Forest.  The girls will be going for an undefeated season.

4. The first day of tryouts for spring sports is next Wednesday (Track tryouts will begin the following week). Students should be registered, which can be done on our athletics website.  Students must also have a current physical on file as well as an athletic participation form.

5. Next Friday is an early release, which means a 12:30 dismissal time.

1. Super Bowl sized “Thank You” to all of you who have donated, shared our posts, volunteered and started your day a little earlier so that your kids could volunteer!  Your support of The Super Bowl of Caring contest/Hygiene Drive has been beyond amazing and is truly appreciated – the H-U-N-D-R-E-D-S of donations are already being sorted and shelves are being stocked!  Follow us on FB for pics with more details to come in our March Newsletter!

2. It’s almost here!  Our Book Fair opens next week!  If you haven’t seen it, be sure to check your student’s backpack for a Scholastic Book Fair preview leaflet and parent letter with important details.

The Book Fair will open Wednesday morning 2/13 at 7:45. Volunteers are still needed to make our Book Fair a success for our students and staff. If you are willing and able, please sign up for a shift at Contact Angie Grant ( or Piper Davis ( with your Book Fair questions!

3. Our Winter Box Top contest continues through Feb. 15th – so be sure to keep clipping and turn in those Box Tops!  The homeroom with the most collected Box Tops by the 15th will receive a special lunch provided by the PTA.

4. The next Early Release day is Friday, Feb 15th.   Our kids head home early, but the teachers stay behind to participate in teacher professional development. The PTA provides those folks lunch so they can make the most use of their time. We need your help to make this happen!  Please visit  for more information/sign up.

5. Our monthly PTA meetings have a new time!  We will still meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month; however, we will now meet at 7pm.  As always, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

6. We REALLY would like to close out our Attractions Books fundraiser so we can put funds raised to good use; however, we still have 205 books that are waiting to be paid for or returned. Please be sure to ask your students / check those book bags - then return books to school or send in a payment.  Books are $20 - cash / check (made out to RMS PTA) or pay online (use code: RMSRAMS).  Contact Candy Terrell-Galke for assistance:
7. Show your Rams pride with Spirit Wear!  Spirit Wear is sold on Wednesday mornings at the school store from 7:45-8:15am and order forms can be found on our website and submitted to teachers anytime.
