Welcome Mr. Sullivan (7th Grade Science, Tigersharks)
My name is Ryan Sullivan, and I am very excited to be taking over as your child’s 7th grade science teacher for the remainder of the school year! I grew up in Asheboro, NC before going to college at Appalachian State In Boone, NC where I got my Bachelor's Degree in Sustainable Development. Upon finishing at App, I then went on to obtain my Graduate Certificate in Secondary Science Education from UNC Charlotte.
I spent the 2017-2018 school year teaching 7th grade science at Carroll Middle School here in Wake County. Following the end of that school year, my wife and I took advantage of a rare opportunity to move to Seoul, South Korea to teach English to elementary and middle school students for a year. This opportunity allowed me to immerse myself into a new culture, while expanding my experience and knowledge of how to be an effective educator.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, rock climbing, playing soccer, and making ceramics. During my time abroad, I was able to travel to 14 different countries in Asia and Europe, and learned so much about different cultures and the world as a whole. I’m excited for the opportunity to utilize these first hand cultural experiences in the classroom in a way that not only applies to our school’s Global Studies vision, but reinforces to students the beauty and significance of international diversity. I’m also excited for the chance to tie my experience teaching abroad with my previous knowledge of teaching 7th grade science to make the rest of the school year a positive and beneficial learning space for each student.
If there is anything I can do for you or your child, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
