Credit By Demonstrated Mastery 2024-2025
- Please review all resources, charts, and FAQs on the WCPSS site before submitting questions or application. Please read everything on this page and on the WCPSS site BEFORE contacting the help email address.
*Please pay close attention to deadlines. No late or early applications will be accepted. Applications will be accepted by EMAIL OR in the main office of MPMS. Please make sure if you submit a paper application, the application is in a sealed envelope with CDM and Full Student Name and ID Number written on the outside of the envelope. The best way to submit is to scan a copy of an application to hmilligan@wcpss.net. Please make sure the copy is clear, all signatures are complete, and the form is dated.
EMAIL is the preferred method of turning in application. Please use the following Subject LIne --- CDM Application for Student Full Name.
If an application is turned into a teacher, counselor, or HR teacher, the application is considered to not have been turned in correctly and may be denied. You will receive a confirmation email within 3 - 5 days from our coordinator to acknowledge the application being received.
Students may earn high school credit for specified courses without spending a set number of hours taking the course in a classroom.
Under the state’s Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) option, uniquely qualified students may “test out” or bypass a course if they have already mastered the content.
The program provides another opportunity for students to learn new content, to challenge themselves with the next level of rigor in a subject, and even graduate early. This option is not designed to replace existing accelerated pathways, such as the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program at WCPSS.
Students who apply for CDM will be required to attend an Academic Counseling session before Phase 1 testing. Sessions will be scheduled after the application period is over. Meetings are usually scheduled for January.
Students may only apply for courses that are NEXT in their course of study. For example - a 7th grader in ELA 7 may not apply for English 1. CTE classes and Foreign Language classes may only be applied for as an 8th grader.
This is the only application period for the year.
