We are a week away from an amazing school year and we are looking forward to having you join us soon!  It was great to have our 6th graders in the school this past week for band camp and can’t wait to hear the music throughout the halls once we start.  
 

7th and 8th grade your schedule pick up will be on the 23rd from 1-3 pm.  It is a great time to pick up a schedule and see where your classes will be.  Once you pick up your schedules there will be time for you to visit your teachers and walk your schedule at your own pace.  There will be booths set up for assistance with transportation, athletics, services, and support for your student and I look forward to meeting everyone there!

For our new 6th grade students we are so excited for you to join Wakefield and look forward to seeing all of our 6th graders at our Wolf Camp on August 24th from 1-3pm.  Parents or caretakers are welcome to attend this event as well as we will all meet in the gym to start and then teachers will take students and we will hold a brief parent session.  Along with the various support tables, we will also have an opportunity for families to sign up for PTSA at the event as we want to make sure all families are involved in making this year a success.  

School Supplies - A list of school supplies can be found on our website.  Teachers will give you a current list once the year starts, but for those that want to jump ahead the list has been provided.  I would also recommend reviewing the dress code policy as you are shopping so that any new purchases meet Wake County guidelines.  

During the first day of school, all students will be given a locker where they may keep their cellphones and school supplies so they are not carrying around all of their belongings all day.  

7th and 8th graders interested in trying out for sports... go to the school website and click on the athletic tab. The athletic website has all the information on how to register for tryouts. You need to have a Dragonfly account and physicals can be obtained by any urgent care for $20-$30.   There will be a student interest meeting for fall sports on Wednesday August 30 from 3:45-4:30. Attention 7th grade parents~your student has immunization requirements to enter 7th grade.  The required immunizations are Tdap and Meningitis.  Please consult your physician.  Once these are received, you may email a copy to Pam Morrison at pmorrison@wcpss.net.  Please email her with any questions.

If your student will not be attending Wakefield Middle, please email Pam Morrison at pmorrison@wcpss.net with the information about your student's next school and she will provide next steps for you.
