Return to Headlines

January 14th, 2021

Good afternoon, this is Steve Mares, principal of Athens Drive Magnet High School, with a special message for Thursday, January 14th. A copy of this message will be posted on our school website (www.wcpss.net/athensdrivehs), tweeted on our school Twitter account, emailed to our students, and emailed and texted to our school families.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

FRESHMEN AND NEW STUDENT TOURS ARE POSTPONED: Due to the decision by the Wake County Public School System tonight to have teaching and learning remain remote through the middle of February, we are postponing our Freshmen and New Student Tours that we had scheduled to hold tomorrow, Friday, January 15th. When we are able to return to In-Person learning, please know that I am committed to allowing our Freshmen and New Students to enter our school, see where their In-Person classes will be held, and get a general orientation to the layout of our school. I am sure that we had many students excited about this opportunity to enter The Drive for the first time, and I am sorry that I am postponing this opportunity. However, I believe that it is the wise decision at this time, and it would serve a better purpose to hold this event closer to the day when we return for In-Person learning. Thank you for your continued flexibility, patience, and understanding as we implement, change, and adjust teaching and learning during this pandemic.
