12.15.19 - Mr. Richburg's Weekly Message
December 15, 2019
Greetings Davis Drive Families
This is our last principal message for this calendar year. The next principal message will be sent out on Sunday, January 5 for the week of January 6-10. I hope that you all have a wonderful and restful holiday break. Happy early New Year 2020.
It has been brought to our attention that parents are pulling over on Davis Drive and having their students meet them at the top of the street to load into the car in the afternoon. We have received phone calls from other parents concerned about this safety issue. Due to these concerns, The Cary Police Department will be onsite to monitor these areas during our afternoon dismissal. Please be sure that you are not having your student come up to meet you on Davis Drive. This is a huge safety concern for you, your child, and the other drivers on Davis Drive. All students will need to pick up on our campus through our carpool lane.
We have noticed a number of students arriving late in the morning. All students can be dropped off as early as 7:45am. 1st period starts promptly at 8:15am. Your child will need to be in their seat at 8:15am to avoid being marked tardy. Please continue to make every effort to get your child to school on time as we want them to be ready and focused at the start of their first class each day.
Lost and Found
Just a reminder that all lost and found items will be donated on Friday, December 20. If you are missing anything, please claim your items before Friday.
Friday, December 20
Reminder: Friday, December 20 is a full day of school for students as it is a weather make up day.
We will be closed from Monday, December 23 through Friday, January 3. We will reopen on Monday, January 6 at 7:45AM.
Would you like to nominate your child for the DDMS Academically and Intellectually Gifted program? The Spring Nomination Window closes January 10th. Check out the AIG website under the Academics tab for information about the program, identification criteria, and nomination process.
Basketball Games Attendance
Just a friendly reminder that all students and guests must purchase an actual basketball game ticket in order to attend a basketball game here at Davis Drive. We had some questions regarding this practice at our last game. Also, all students and parents must remain in the gym area while attending the games. Restrooms are located directly outside of the gym for all visitor use as well. Other areas of the school, including our halls, stairwells, and classrooms are closed to students and parents during that time. These areas are closed so that our custodial staff can properly clean our halls and classrooms.
School tours with Mr. Richburg will begin in January for 2020-2021 prospective families (rising 6-8). Please encourage your neighbors to come tour our great school. I look forward to showing everyone around! No RSVP required!
- Friday, January 10 -- 8:30-9:00 am
- Friday, January 17 -- 3:15-3:45 pm
- Friday, January 24 -- 8:30-9:00 am
