11.17.19 - Mr. Richburg's Weekly Message

November 17, 2019

Greetings Davis Drive Families

Congratulations to all of our students who made the A or A/B honor roll. It was a pleasure attending your honor roll celebrations this past week. As we move into the 2nd quarter, I encourage all students to continue to work hard and put forth their best efforts.

Please be sure to ask your student about our “Selfie with Mr. Richburg” contest. The winners will be announced at our mid -year pep rally and they will also earn a pizza party with me!

Cold and Flu Season

Cold and flu season is upon us and stomach bugs may be going around. Please note if your child is sick with a fever we ask you to please keep them home until they are fever free for 24 hours without medication to reduce the fever. If they are sick throwing up please keep them home until they are well. This will reduce the spread of illness.

If your child calls you and or texts you while in school stating that they are sick, please advise them to tell their teacher and go to the front office. The office will be able to check for fevers and access what may be going on. This helps prevent the amount of time others are exposed. If your child has a fever while at school, they must be picked up from school and can not return until they are fever free (without medication) for 24 hours. We appreciate your assistance in helping us keep the school healthy.

Lost and Found

As the weather becomes a bit colder, we are seeing a number of jackets and coats left in our lost and found. Please encourage your child to stop by to see if their items are there. We also have a number of lunch boxes and water bottles there as well. Our lost and found is located in our gym entry hallway.

Winter Fine Arts performances and Sporting Events

Congrats to our students who tried out for a winter sport. We have two great teams put together for our basketball season. We are also gearing up for some great winter concerts and dance shows in our fine arts departments! I am excited to see the great talent take place this winter season! Be on the lookout for more information about these events.

Inclement Weather Updates

Please be sure that you are subscribed to all communication channels and outlets, so you are able to receive up to date information about inclement weather. School delays and closures will be posted on our website and placed on both twitter sites (school and principal). WCPSS will also send a voicemail out to all families as well. If you are in need of updating your contact information, please call our data manager in the front office.

DDMS Track Repair Update

Last spring, we were scheduled to have our track repaired. This was placed on hold by our county and was scheduled to be reconsidered in the fall. We have received a recent update that work on our track is projected to begin in late March 2020. The work will run through the end of August 2020. All events will be moved to another facility and we are going to work with our central office department on these details. As the county releases more information and details, I will share these updates with you all.

With Panther Pride,
