Hello HMS Families!

Also, track 1 - next week starts EOG testing so please have your child go to bed early, get a good breakfast, and remind them that one test does not define them. Just try their absolute best, that is all we can ask of them.

- Wednesday, May 21 - Math EOG/EOC
- Thursday, May 22 - Science EOG (8th) & 7th Math for Math 1 7th grade students

Families: If your child Walks to or From School, PLEASE READ!
We need your support in reminding students who walk to and from school about a few important safety and timeliness expectations.
- Morning Arrival: Students who walk to school should arrive prior to 8:20 AM so they are in their classrooms and ready to begin the day on time. Please help reinforce the importance of leaving home early enough to account for traffic, weather, or any unexpected delays.
- Crosswalk Safety: We've noticed some concerning behaviors at the crosswalk, such as horseplay (including pushing), walking very slowly and disrupting traffic, not paying attention, or crossing at unsafe times. These actions are not only unsafe but also impact the flow of traffic. We want every student to arrive and return home safely—just as we know you do.
Our admin has spoken with walkers during afternoon dismissal and with students who arrived late this morning. However, your support in continuing this conversation at home would make a big difference. Thank you for working with us to keep all our students safe and on time.
Flora Festival
Due to the weather last week, we rescheduled Flora Festival for this Tuesday, 5/20. We will closely monitor the weather in hopes it will continue this week. Our students put time and effort into planning this event in an effort to bring us together as a school community. Please encourage your children to attend this paid event as it is a great opportunity to enjoy time with friends, join in on student vs. staff athletic games, and take part in fun, carnival-style activities. We’re looking forward to a joyful, school-spirited celebration! Tickets are $6 which can be paid in cash at the event or by using the Go Fans app. https://gofan.co/event/3531743?schoolId=NC68157
