Hello Patriot Families!
A HUGE thank you to all of you who supported our teachers through Teacher Appreciation Week last week. A special thanks to those who gave of their time and/or made donations to the Teacher Lounge refresh! It looks amazing. We thank you for your generosity and will enjoy this in the years ahead. Here are this week’s announcements:
8th Grade Families going to Heritage High: There will be an informational meeting held on May 17th at 7 pm at the Heritage High School Main Gym for students interested in participating in sports at HHS. Plan to meet coaches and learn about summer workout information. HERE is a link to the Husky website for your convenience. Please contact HHS with any questions.
8th Grade Students going to Wake Forest High: Wake Forest HS has announced the date for their Cougar Camp. Save the Date- Thursday, August 10th! More information to come regarding this opportunity for your rising 9th grader to tour the school before the first day of school.
8th Grade Athletes going to Wake Forest High: Our "Meet The Coaches Night" for rising 9th graders will be on Wednesday, May 24th at 6:00pm in Lindsey Gymnasium. Please contact WFHS with any questions.

Flora Festival: The Flora Festival is the annual HMS fundraiser sponsored by National Junior Honor Society and Student Council. This year's event is May 16th, 3:30 to 5:30 PM. The $6 admission fee grants access to the carnival and the student/faculty kickball game. Concessions will be sold by the PTA and Kona Ice will be on campus. Tickets may be purchased through the GoFan Website: https://gofan.co/app/events/992786?schoolId=NC68157. Students will need a phone to show proof of purchase on GoFan. Cash will also be accepted at the gate.
The Giving Tree: A big THANKS to all families and staff who have shopped and donated at The Giving Tree this year! We were recently awarded a check of $2450 through their Donations for Education Program. Please consider donating to The Giving Tree. You can learn more about their Donations for Education Program at www.givingtreefoundation.org.
Proctors Needed: We are looking for end-of-year testing proctors. A proctor comes in on test day and is assigned 1-3 classrooms to walk through to support the teacher/test administrator while students are testing, or he/she supports a hallway by monitoring bathroom usage and students who need to leave the class during testing for any reason. A proctor MUST be an already approved WCPSS volunteer.

Walker Passes: Please note that we respectfully request at least 24 hours notice to create a Walker Pass. Notes will only be created on the day of the request if there is an emergency situation when requested by the parent. Students should follow their regularly scheduled transportation plan and not seek a pass at the end of the day.
