April 23, 2023 Principal Message
Hello Patriot Families!
We have had a busy week with lots of events. The Be Pro Be Proud training truck was on campus to enlighten our 8th graders about career and technical programs they might not be familiar with. Additionally, we had home athletic events and a musical review! Thanks to all who supported our athletes as well as our performers and backstage crew!
We are looking forward to another great week. Please be reminded that ONLY Track 4 students report to school on Monday. Tracks 1 and 2 have a workday, and Track 3 is tracked out.
Here are this week’s announcements:
8th Grade Athletes: If you are attending Wakefield High School next year, check out this Twitter posting - https://twitter.com/hmsathletics1/status/1647989231590195200?s=20
8th Grade Families: All 8th graders attending Wake Forest and Heritage High Schools have received their "Verification Sheet." It lists the CORE and ELECTIVE choices your child registered for in PowerSchool several weeks ago. This is NOT your child's 9th grade schedule. The purpose of the Verification Sheet is for high schools to verify any changes your child might want to make PRIOR to scheduling. High Schools DO NOT change schedules if your child is enrolled in primary choice electives or in alternate choice electives.
Please follow these directions regarding your child's Verification Sheet:
Wake Forest students- please follow the directions on the back of the Verification Sheet. Return the signed Verification Sheet directly to Wake Forest ONLY if you are requesting changes.
Heritage students- EVERY student should return their signed Verification Sheet directly to Mrs. McCorquodale/a CORE teacher. Mrs. McCorquodale will forward all of the Heritage Verification Sheets directly to Heritage High.
Please contact Mrs. McCorquodale if you need any assistance with this. HERE is the link to her website if you would like to review the 9th Grade Course offerings.
Athletics Parking Reminder: Thank you for supporting our bus drivers by parking in other areas during games. Soccer patrons should park along the street between the middle and elementary schools. Softball patrons should park in the front parking lot and walk down the access road behind the school to the softball field.
NJHS: NJHS candidate selections for 7th and 8th graders are complete and have been posted in Canvas. Please contact Ms. Worley (aworley@wcpss.net) if your candidate did not receive a selection notice or you have questions about the results.
Panorama Parent Survey: Wake County Public Schools is administering a District Wide Family Survey through Friday, May 12. This survey allows families to provide valuable information and a high-quality data source for planning and School Improvement.
Please use this link to access the survey:

We appreciate your feedback and have already begun to make changes in response.
