August 22, 2021 Principal Message
Hello Patriot Families!
This week we welcome Track 3 after their first trackout, and Track 2 Camp WCPSS students begin extended learning. Please also remember that traditional calendar schools return to school this week. We anticipate that bus routes will be delayed and traffic patterns could be impacted. Here are this week’s reminders:
Bus Routes: Due to a bus driver shortage, many of our routes have been combined, including some routes merging with elementary routes. Bus drivers are charged with seating these students in separate areas of the bus (front/back) and monitoring, but we need your assistance in reminding our students of expectations for appropriate behavior with elementary students. Some conversation topics for middle schoolers, for instance, are not appropriate for elementary students to overhear. We have been sharing our behavioral expectations on each bus and appreciate your assistance. Thanks!
Carpool: Thanks for your help in keeping the carpool running smoothly. With the exception of the 7-8 minute delay in the morning while awaiting the opening of the elementary school at 7:55, it has been going well. Two reminders: 1) Please have your child ready to exit (mask ready and materials gathered) before you get to the cones near the Spirit Rock. 2) Please have your child exit the car when requested rather than trying to drop off at the very front of the school. Thanks!
Community Clean Up: Mark your calendars for our community clean up, the morning of October 23! In coordination with our PTA Beautification Committee, we will be sprucing up the front lawn. We look forward to having families, student groups, and staff working together to complete some much needed mulching and weed pulling. More details to come!
PTA: Our next Spirit Night has been confirmed. Papa Murphy's, at 11721 Retail Drive on September 2, 2021. They will be donating back 33%. The Spirit Night will run from 1:00 pm -7:00 pm. Mark your calendars!
Student Services Announcement: The WCPSS Community Family Academy holds FREE Virtual and Face-to-Face Parent Workshops and educational events for WCPSS families in various schools and community sites throughout Wake County. From research, we understand that students achieve more when families are involved in their children's education.
The purpose of the Family Academy program is to provide families with the necessary academic tools to support the success of their child's education and to bring schools, parents/guardians, families, and community organizations together as equal partners.
If you'd like information about these workshops, please check out the Student Services Website located HERE

Do not call the school regarding this device.
