8th Grade Celebration:  The 8th Grade Driveby Car Parade is scheduled for June 17, 4:00 - 6:00 pm.  View flyer here.

Car Pool:  A HUGE thank you to those who helped make this past week’s Wednesday and Friday morning carpool run smoothly in spite of the high school graduation events on those days.  To those who carpooled, those who left early, those who had their children in our Walk Zone walk to school, I appreciate your efforts!!!

Drive By (Virtual Academy only):  The final Drive By to return materials (novels, band materials, Spanish materials, hotspots, library books, etc.) has been scheduled for June 17 (7:15 am - 1:00 pm)  or 18 (1:00 - 5:00).  Students may also pick up yearbooks at this time.  This event is only for Virtual Academy students since Plan A students may bring materials to homeroom, and yearbooks will be distributed to them. If your 8th grader ordered a t-shirt and you’re not planning to participate in the 8th Grade Driveby Car Parade, please ask for your t-shirt.

Schedules 2021-2022:  I know that you are anxious to know about your class schedules for next year.  We will not have this information - for students in the building or Virtual Academy - until just prior to the start of school.  We will let you know when it is available.

Summer Soccer Camp:  Millbrook High School is hosting a youth soccer camp.  See details here if interested: MHS Youth Soccer Camp

Attendance Notes:  If you need to provide an absence note for your child, please do so digitally by contacting our data manager at smclarke@wcpss.net

Covid Diagnosis:  If a student receives a positive Covid diagnosis, do not send the student to school.  Please contact the principal at jnewhouse@wcpss.net.    The guidance for return to school is updated here:  https://www.wcpss.net/whentoreturn

Grades:  Please note that 4th Quarter grades do not close until after the last day of school, June 21.  Please encourage your child(ren) to remain engaged after EOG testing.

  • 100.4° fever or higher
  • Sore throat
  • New cough
  • New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • New severe headache

If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, he/she should not report to school. Follow the return to school guidance: https://www.wcpss.net/whentoreturn

Technology Updates:  All School issued Wi-Fi hotspots MUST be returned to school before the end of the school year. You may drop off the hotspot AND the charger at the front office or have your child return it to their homeroom teacher.  If your child is returning to a WCPSS school for the 21-22 school year and has a school-issued Chromebook, he/she will need to keep the Chromebook for use next year.  If your child is not returning to a WCPSS school, you must return the school issued Chromebook and charger.  If your child is returning to WCPSS AND has a damaged Chromebook, it is important for you to return that Chromebook now.  Returning it makes your child eligible to receive a replacement device for the 21-22 school year.  Any student who doesn't currently have a school-issued Chromebook will receive one automatically for the 21-22 school year.

Track Assignments:  Track assignments for 2021-2022 are listed on the school website https://www.wcpss.net/HeritageMS.  You may search by student ID # using the “Ctrl F” function.

Take Care,

Jo Ellen Newhouse, Heritage Middle School Principal
