Make up testing Day & Last Day of School

*Virtual Academy families:  If your student has a WCPSS issued Chromebook, he/she can use that Chromebook for end-of-year testing.  However, that Chromebook has not been in the school at all this year to update to our new domain, the WCPSS server, etc. and some of these updates can take an extensive period of time.  We are asking all Virtual Academy families to bring their child's Chromebook to school on either Friday, June 4, or Monday, June 7, between 8 am-4 pm and drop it off.  While it is at the school, a staff member will be turning it on and leaving it plugged in so that it can update over the weekend or at least overnight before testing begins.  We hope that by offering two options for drop off, this will allow families to come by at their convenience.  We know students will need these devices for school the day after they update, so pick up can begin as early as 7:15 am the next day.

Final Drive By (Virtual Academy Only) :  The final drive by to drop off materials (novels, band materials, Spanish materials, hotspots, library books, etc.) has been scheduled for June 17 (7:15 am - 1:00 pm)  and 18 (1:00 - 5:00).  Students may also pick up yearbooks at this time.  This event is only for Virtual Academy students since Plan A students may bring materials to homeroom, and yearbooks will be distributed to them.

Health Screening:  Students should not be in school if they are diagnosed with COVID-19, exposed to someone with COVID-19, instructed to quarantine, or if they are sick or experiencing any of these symptoms:

  • 100.4° fever or higher
  • Sore throat
  • New cough
  • New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • New severe headache

If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, he/she should not report to school. Follow the return to school guidance:

Library/Media Center Access:  Media Center Reservation

Lunch/Breakfast Menus:  Our School     All WCPSS Schools

Quarter 4 Bell Schedule:  Bell Schedule

Technology Updates:  All School issued Wi-Fi hotspots MUST be returned to school before the end of the school year. You may drop off the hotspot AND the charger at the front office or have your child return it to their homeroom teacher.  If your child is returning to a WCPSS school for the 21-22 school year and they have a school issued Chromebook, he/she will need to keep the Chromebook for use next year.  If your child is not returning to a WCPSS school, you must return the school issued Chromebook and charger.  If your child is returning to WCPSS AND has a damaged Chromebook, it is important for you to return that Chromebook now.  Returning it makes your child eligible to receive a replacement device for the 21-22 school year.  Any student who doesn't currently have a school issued Chromebook will receive one automatically for the 21-22 school year.

Track Assignments:  Track assignments for 2021-2022 are listed on the school website  You may search by student ID # using the “Ctrl F” function.

Walker Passes:  We are no longer issuing Walker Passes for the 2020-2021 school year.  We do not provide Walker Passes on a temporary basis.

Take Care,

Jo Ellen Newhouse, Heritage Middle School Principal
