April 18, 2021 Principal Message

Hello Patriot Families!

A lot happened in the three days we were here last week.  Students and staff had a chance to reacclimate themselves to learning after the spring Track Out.   Here are this week’s updates:

Notes for All Students

Asynchronous/Remote Learning Day:  April 21 is an Asynchronous Learning Day for all students.  Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom.

End-of Year Testing Update:  Click here.

Yearbook Information:  April 30th is the last day to order a yearbook at  ybpay.lifetouch.com   The school ID code is 14310021.

Notes for Virtual Academy Students

No additional notes this week

Notes for Plan A Students

Carpool:  We have over 400 vehicles coming through our carpool each morning and afternoon.  We are trying to make this process as quick as possible and have reduced the time required each day by tweaking our processes.  On Monday, we will begin moving cars into double lanes upon entry into the parking lot.  By doing so, we should be able to keep an additional 20 or more cars off of Rogers Road.  Additionally, the Wake Forest Police Department has advised that drivers are blocking Rogers Road long before school gets out and have asked that parents refrain from coming to the carpool line prior to 2:50.  If there were an emergency, crews  would be delayed in accessing the campus.  This practice will also help our buses get on campus in a timely manner. Thanks for your patience each day and for following the carpool procedures.

Lunch Menus: FYI: New Interactive School Meal Menus

Child Nutrition Services is proud to introduce our WCPSS families to a new interactive menu website called MealViewer. On this website, families can:

  • Set up multiple profiles at the schools of their choice
  • View 5 weeks of menus for breakfast and lunch
  • See any menu changes posted by the manager at each site
  • Choose menu items based on allergens
  • View nutrients for each menu item
  • Add nutrients for meals eaten, even partial meals
  • Submit ratings on your favorite items

A link to these new interactive menus has been added to our school webpage on the maroon bar about half-way down.

 Reminders from Previous Weekly Messages

Athletics Conditioning Workouts:  Refer to the athletics website regarding sports updates.  Spring Sports Conditioning Workouts continue through April 30.

Attendance Notes:  If you need to provide an absence note for your child, please do so digitally by contacting our data manager at smclarke@wcpss.net

Covid Diagnosis/Exposure:  If a student should receive a positive Covid diagnosis or be exposed to someone who has, do not send the student to school.  Please contact the principal at jnewhouse@wcpss.net.  This information  must be reported to Health Services and ensures that appropriate deep cleaning has occurred in the spaces the student has recently occupied.  Additionally, we start contact tracing as needed from these notifications.

Forgotten Materials:  Do not bring materials that were forgotten by students to the office during the school day.  If a student forgets his/her lunch, the school lunch is free this year and will be available.  In order to avoid handling others’ personal items and to avoid interrupting classes, we will not be delivering materials that were left behind.  Please help students to remember to bring all materials before leaving home.

Health Screening:  Students should not be in school if they are diagnosed with COVID-19, exposed to someone with COVID-19, instructed to quarantine, or if they are sick or experiencing any of these symptoms:

  • 100.4° fever or higher
  • Sore throat
  • New cough
  • New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • New severe headache

If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, he/she should not report to school.
