October 18, 2020 Principal Message
Hello Patriot Families!
I hope you have been able to make some family memories during track out. We are looking forward to all students returning to virtual learning tomorrow. Here are this week’s updates:
8th Grade Parents: WCPSS offers several High School options for our rising 9th graders- Early College High Schools, Magnet High Schools, Crossroads Flex High School, and of course your base high school. Mrs. McCorquodale, 8th grade counselor, invites you to view her presentation on high schools found HERE, which includes virtual fair information for many of these schools. You and your child may also attend her Google Meet on Tuesday, October 20th at 11:45 AM found HERE or on Thursday, October 22nd at 5:30 PM found HERE. Contact Mrs. McCorquodale with any questions: email@example.com
Bell Schedule: The schedule has been revised to include lunches for Plan B face-to-face. All students will need to follow this revised schedule beginning Nov. 9. Class time changes have been noted in red.
Drive By Pick Up: It’s time for our second Drive By Pick Up (Oct. 28 - 7:30 -1:00 and Nov. 4 - 12:00 - 6:00). The next three math workbooks will be distributed for all students except those taking Math I and Math II.
Face-to-Face Instruction: When Plan B students return, they will need to have a health screening. Please do not drop off students without being approved by the health screener. Screeners will be available beginning at 7:40 to ask health screening questions and to take temperatures. Students will remain with the teachers they have been assigned since the beginning of the year. Transition times will allow for disinfecting classrooms between groups of students. Students should plan to bring their devices to school if at all possible since we will continue to utilize digital assignments. BYOD forms will need to be completed and will be available at the Drive By Pick Up. Students are also strongly encouraged to bring a personal water bottle. Dismissal will look a little different for purposes of social distancing. We will utilize a car hanger number system similar to the elementary school in carpool. We will distribute those as soon as they arrive. Bus routes will be called as they arrive on campus.
iReady Assessment: Some of you received information from your child's ELA teacher via Talking Points about an upcoming iReady Assessment. Please review this information, if you received it (this did not go to all families). We will hold Parent Information Sessions on Monday and Tuesday for you to ask questions or learn more information. Please utilize this Sign Up Genius Link to RSVP for a Parent Information Session.
Student Accountability and Required Health Protocols: WCPSS requires that all Plan B families review and sign the included documentation provided here: Review and Sign. Plan B students should bring the signed copy to school with them to submit to the homeroom teacher. Hard copies will be provided at the Drive By Pick Up if a student does not have printer access.
Wake County Community Food Hubs: Our partners at Wake County Cooperative Extension have set up community food hubs to continue our work in providing students and families with access to food on Saturdays at these sites .
Reminders from Previous Weekly Messages:

All classrooms have been outfitted with hand sanitizer stations. Hallways have been marked with 6 Feet Apart sticker reminders. Room capacity signage has been posted with the maximum number permitted per social distancing guidelines. Two water filling stations have been ordered to convert existing water fountains.
