October 11, 2020 Principal Message

Hello Patriot Families!

I hope your trackout has been restful.  We are looking forward to all students returning to virtual learning on October 19.  Here are this week’s updates:

Cohort Information:  Students in Plan B will be returning to school on a 3-week rotation beginning Nov. 9.  Plan B Families received communication via School Messenger regarding their cohort assignments on  Oct. 7.   For clarity, the first round of in-school instruction is:

Regional program Cohort 1: October 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30

Regional program Cohort 2: November 2, 4, 5, and 6

Cohort 3 (both regional Program and Plan B)- November 9, 10, 12, and 13

Cohort 1 Plan B - November 16, 17, 19, and 20

Cohort 2 Plan B - November 30, December 1, 3, and 4

Remote Learning Days:  The School Board has approved the following Remote Learning Days:  Nov. 18, Dec. 2, and Dec. 16.  All students will receive asynchronous assignments those days and will not report to school if in Plan B.  Due to the addition of these days, we will cease our Office Hours schedule beginning the week of November 9 to align with the WCPSS Plan.

School Day for Plan B:   When Plan B students return, they will need to have a health screening.  Please do not drop students off.  Screeners will be available beginning at 7:40.  Student schedules will look very similar to what their schedule has been thus far with a few changes to accommodate all groups during lunch.  Transition times between classes will allow for disinfecting classrooms between groups of students.  Students should plan to bring their devices to school if at all possible since we will continue to utilize digital assignments.   More details will follow regarding what remote learning will look like when students begin rotating into school.

Student Accountability and Required Health Protocols: WCPSS requires that all Plan B families review and sign the included documentation provided here:  Review and Sign.  Plan B students should bring the signed copy to school with them to submit to the homeroom teacher.  Hard copies will be provided if a student does not have printer access.

Reminders from Previous Weekly Messages

Health/Safety:  We continue to prepare the building for students’ reentry.  Signage has been placed reminding everyone to follow the three Ws:  Wear Your Mask, Wait 6 Feet or More Apart, and Wash Your Hands Frequently.  All classrooms have been outfitted with hand sanitizer stations.  Hallways have been marked with 6 Feet Apart sticker reminders.  Room capacity signage has been posted with the maximum number permitted per social distancing guidelines.  Two water filling stations have been ordered to convert existing water fountains.
