Principal's Message 8/19/20

Holly Ridge Elementary

Holly Ridge Elementary Families,

I hope you and your child or children have had a chance to meet with their Homeroom teachers and classmates to get to know each other and review online learning expectations.

School Supplies

I would like to let everyone know that our curriculum and supply distribution begins tomorrow. Kindergarten and first grade families are asked to come through our carpool lane between 12:00-2:00. 2nd and 3rd grade families please come between 2:00-4:00. 4th and 5th grade families your pick up time is Friday between 12:00-2:00. You will also be picking up supply boxes that you ordered through our PTA. If you have children in multiple grades just let a staff member know so they can gather the different materials for each of your children so that you can avoid having to come for multiple pickups. If you aren’t able to come tomorrow or Friday you can come the following week.

Chromebook and Hotspot Distribution

I know several of our families are still waiting for their technology devices and/or hotspots. We do not have these devices at our school and unfortunately we do not know when our families are scheduled to receive them. Wake County Technology Services is handling all device distribution. They will be calling parents using the phone number that is on file through Powerschools. The Technology department will let you know the day and time your device will be ready for pick up. This process could take 2 weeks and we understand how this could be frustrating for our families. Wake County is distributing over 40,000 devices. Please refrain from calling the school asking about device pick up, since we do not have this information. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact the school.

We are looking forward to a great start to the school year. I want to thank all of our families upfront for all they are doing to support their children as we begin this year together on-line. This is going to be an adjustment for everyone, but our entire Holly Ridge Elementary staff is here for you. Please let us know how and what we can do to support you and your child during this transition to start the school year.

Thank you,

Joy Gorman
