FEBRUARY 5 SWEETHEART DANCE POSTPONED
As you are aware, the COVID cases are on the rise in the community as well as our school. The staff and student health and safety are of the utmost importance to the GHHS administration. Due to the current COVID numbers we had to make the difficult decision to postpone the Sweetheart Dance. We are hopeful that we will be able to host an all-student body event later in the spring if conditions are conducive.
NOTE FROM OUR PTSA PRESIDENT
RETURN TO SCHOOL COVID NOTES
Here’s the most recent info on returning to school:
- We need to all be tight with our 3 W’s right now:
- Wash your hands
- Wear your mask over your nose/mouth/chin
- Wait for others to give them social distancing
Right now, we want to be cognizant of keeping our masks on as much as possible. Masks should only be removed when eating and drinking. Please only eat while stationary/seated.
NEW! Mid-Year Transcripts and Mid-Year Reports
Attention Seniors: Instructions for requesting mid-year transcripts and mid-year reports will be posted in February. Please hold off on requesting your mid-year transcript and mid-year report until instructions are posted in February.
Please join us in welcoming our new counselor, Sarah Corey. Ms. Corey’s student’s are those with last names Ni–Si.
The Junior Student/Parent Presentation is now available (click here)! Please watch the first recorded presentation and follow the agenda to view additional videos and resources for information on College Planning, Scholarships, SAT/ACT Resources, Financial Aid and Career Readiness, as well as videos from several college admissions advisors.
- Spectators are not allowed to bring outside food or drink into our games.
- Students are not allowed to bring backpacks or large bags into games.
- Spectators must observe WCPSS Dress Code policy. Spectators not following policy may be asked to leave campus.
Due to a severe driver shortage, caused primarily by the impacts of COVID-19, some bus routes may not run. Please check the status of your child’s bus daily at www.wcpss.net/busupdate.
If the status of your child's bus route is "No Driver Available/Route Uncovered," you will need to make alternate transportation arrangements. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
If your student is returning to in-person learning from Virtual Academy and needs to ride the bus, please request transportation as soon as possible. If you have any questions, contact Nina Scott-Emuakpor

Parents, please consider applying for meal benefits as soon as possible. By submitting a qualifying application, families will also support the district in qualifying for additional funds to support students and learning! Also, the NC Department of Health & Human Services is collecting student free and reduced lunch and attendance data from WCPSS to determine any additional Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) that will be issued in the coming months! By not applying for these meal benefits, you will miss the potential opportunity to receive direct P-EBT funds for your family!
Yes, meals will still be free for all students through June 2022 but we still need you to complete a meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for this extra education funding next school year. Also, this ensures your student is covered for the first few weeks of school next year. Information about applying for Meal Benefits can be found at www.wcpss.net/meals. Help our school continue to receive this funding by completing an application online at MySchoolApps.com. Paper applications can be requested by calling 919-588-3535.
