INFO FROM MEDIA CENTER
Book Pick-up
The GHHS Media Center is now offering contactless book pickup!
Students can request library books and will be notified to pick them up at the main entrance from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. once they’re available. Watch this video to learn how to browse the collection online and request holds, and email Ms. Yates and Ms. Dry at eyates@wcpss.net and jdry@wcpss.net for book recommendations.
GENERAL INFO
Activities
Clubs and Organizations
2020-21 Club and Organization applications are now being accepted! Please go to the GHHS website for more details. Applications must be complete for submission. All clubs and organizations must apply yearly. Due to COVID19 safety protocols we anticipate some restrictions on our club and organization activities.
Athletics
The fall athletics season continues to be delayed. As we receive additional information from WCPSS, we will let you know. Please keep in mind that students who miss 13.5 days of school, whether virtual, online or brick and mortar when we return, will be ineligible to participate in sports when they restart. Please continue to monitor the Green Hope High School Athletics website for the latest updates in regard to off-season workouts, fall try-out dates, etc.
Attendance
GHHS Parents, please pay attention to your teen’s engagement in class. Their engagement in class will impact whether they are counted absent or present. Here’s our attendance works while students are participating in online instruction. Students who are learning online either through Plan B Transition or the Virtual Academy are counted present if
- They complete their daily assignments online or offline and/or are present in synchronous (live, real time) instruction or
- They have a daily check-in or two-way communication with their teachers.
A teacher may subsequently change students’ attendance from absent to present based on evidence of student engagement submitted at a later date.
Campus Hours
The GHHS campus is closed at this time due to COVID19. However, we have a skeleton staff on campus 9-3 to allow students to pick up items. Their teachers will notify them if they have items to pick up.
Device Pickup
WCPSS has announced that those families who completed the technology survey and identified the need for a device can pick up their Chromebooks and/or hotspots at the following locations: Leesville Road HS, Knightdale HS, South Garner HS, Enloe HS, or Apex HS. The distribution times, starting on Monday, August 17th and lasting throughout the week, are as follows: Monday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Tuesday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Wednesday 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, Thursday 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, and Saturday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Please know that if you need a Chromebook or hotspot, you must attend one of these distribution events, as we will not be having any distribution events at the school. Also, if you have already been given a Chromebook and it does not work or you are having issues with it, you can come to one of these distribution events to have it looked at.
*To accommodate social distancing and keep our families, staff, and volunteers safe, families will be assigned a date to collect their requested devices. They will be allowed to pick up their devices from any location on or after their assigned date.
If you did not complete the WCPSS device survey already, please contact Ms. Emily Yates at eyates@wcpss.net to update your technology needs.
Messenger / School Communication
It is essential that our families receive accurate communication from both the school and the district through School Messenger. For more information about School Messenger, please review this webpage:
If parent contact information needs to be updated, please contact our Data Manager, Mr. Kory Whitfield, at kwhitfield@wcpss.net
Parking
Great news! WCPSS will waive student parking fees for the 2020-2021 school year as long as we are in plan B or plan C status. When we move to plan A status, the district will charge the students for parking tags by prorating the costs for the remaining time left in the school year based upon the previously approved $200 fee. At this time, we are not issuing student parking spaces. If and when this changes, we will let you know.

All student/staff email communication must take place through WCPSS e-mail accounts. WCPSS has created a “guide to technology” site that will continue to be updated: https://www.wcpss.net/techguides
