We hope everyone stayed dry during the rainy weekend! Thank you for joining us in celebrating our amazing counselors, Ms. Michot and Ms. Schira, during National School Counseling Week. We are so grateful for their dedication and support of our students and school community. A big thank you also for helping us celebrate our bus drivers during Love the Bus Week. We appreciate their hard work and commitment to keeping our students safe each day!
Believe it or not, we are already in the early stages of planning for the 2025-2026 school year! The first step is opening the Track Change Request Form window, which is now available through February 28th. Families interested in requesting a track change can access the form HERE. While we cannot guarantee all requests will be honored, we will do our best to accommodate as many as possible. If you have specific questions, please call or email Ms. Dahlhoff at adahlhoff@wcpss.net. Families will be notified of the outcome at the beginning of May.
As we move into the second semester, we want to emphasize the importance of regular attendance for student success. We understand that families may choose to travel throughout the year, but we strongly encourage planning trips during track-out periods to avoid missed instructional time. One of the many benefits of a year-round calendar is the built-in breaks, which allow for vacations without disrupting learning. We appreciate your commitment to ensuring students are present and engaged when their track is in session. Thank you for your ongoing support in making Oak Grove a thriving learning community!

Family Education Night - Save the Date
Oak Grove Elementary is thrilled to announce our upcoming Family Education Night! Mark your calendars and join us on Thursday, March 27th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM for an evening of learning and community engagement. The night will kick off with a brief PTA meeting at 5:00 PM, so be sure to arrive early. Stay tuned for details on the exciting sessions we’ll be offering. Plus, enjoy delicious options from food trucks, prizes, and raffles. Children ages 5 and up can join us in the gym to play Bingo and be supervised by staff. Children under the age of 5 will be allowed to attend the sessions with their families/caregivers. We can't wait to see you there!

5th Grade Families - From Dr. Feldman, Principal, Dillard Drive Magnet Middle Rising 6th Graders Open House
Attention Rising 6th Grade Families! Dillard Drive Magnet Middle School will host an Open House on Wednesday, March 5th. The event begins at 5:00 PM with an overview of their exciting Magnet programming, followed by an information session at 6:00 PM specifically for families of rising 6th graders. This is a great opportunity to learn about Dillard Drive’s unique programs, meet staff, and get all the information you need for a smooth transition to middle school. In-person application events for free, high-quality Pre-K
Families can apply in person at one of four events to be held this spring. Participants also can receive a free screening to assess your child's developmental and academic abilities. Children must be 4 by Aug. 31 and live in Wake County to qualify. See full schedule and details. Families can apply online anytime at wakesmartstart.org
WAKE Up and Read book drive kickoff set for March 1
Bring your family and friends out to celebrate the kickoff of WAKE Up and Read's annual book drive at John Chavis Community Center on March 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. We will be accepting new books in support of our 28 partner schools and 17 child development centers to promote summer reading. There will be guest readers, games, giveaways, food, and fun. RSVP by Feb. 26.

You’re invited to join Superintendent Robert P. Taylor as we celebrate our achievements and look ahead to the future during the State of the Schools Address. The event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. Please RSVP or view the live stream if you are unable to attend.
WCPSS launches Level Up Literacy with a new partner
The district is launching the new Level Up Literacy tutoring initiative this week. The effort is supported by local nonprofit partners Read and Feed and WakeEd Partnership. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for an information session or training. Learn more about how you can participate on our website.
