As 2024 quickly comes to a close, it’s hard to believe how fast the year has flown by! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Art Night and Breakfast with Books. These events were a tremendous success, showcasing the incredible talent of our Oak Grove students. We also greatly appreciate your support of our Book Fair, which raised over $15,000. This achievement will allow us to expand our media collection with even more fantastic books for our students to enjoy.
If your child’s transportation needs to change after the start of the school day (8:45 AM), please contact the office at 919-387-4490. To ensure we can notify students and teachers in a timely manner, transportation changes must be made before 3:00 PM.
Please note that Oak Grove Elementary will be closed to the public for Winter Break from Monday, December 23, through Friday, January 3, 2025. We wish all our families a safe and joyful holiday season!

Student Devices
Beginning January 6, 2025, student-issued Chromebooks will no longer be sent home with students. This change is due to several important reasons, including the district's inability to replace broken or lost laptops due to budget constraints. Additionally, this decision aims to ensure that devices remain functional and available for classroom instruction. Students will continue to have access to their Chromebooks during the school day, and alternative arrangements will be made for any assignments that require technology outside of school.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritize the longevity and accessibility of these valuable learning tools.

For parents and staff wanting to place picture day orders, please contact 877.791.1676 to gain your child's Access ID codes. This department is open M-F 9:30am - 7pm. After getting authenticated by customer service and receiving your code, please visit my.photoday.com. Login with an email or phone number that can receive an authentication code. After, you should be prompted to enter the access ID to load the gallery.
To set a proper expectation, there are wait times when calling to receive an Access ID code. Wait times can be from 10 minutes to an hour.
Holiday Spirit Days in December
Get ready to spread some holiday cheer with our Holiday Spirit Fridays throughout December! We invite all students to join the staff in celebrating the festive season as we gear up for Winter Break. Each Friday—December 6th, 13th, and 20th—will feature a fun and festive theme, so come dressed up and ready to show your holiday spirit. Let’s make the countdown to Winter Break a memorable and joyful time for everyone!
Unclaimed School Meal Balances
Students who graduated or exited the district during the 2024-25 school year and left funds in their meal account may request a refund. The Refund Form must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2025, or the funds will be donated to Child Nutrition Services to be used to support the district's school meal program for students. If you need assistance, contact Child Nutrition Services at 919-856-2918.
Congratulations to our PTA
We are the winners of the National PTA grant "Ready, Tech, Go!" sponsored by AT&T. This grant is about keeping parents informed about technology and children digitally safe. The primary focus is phone use, when a child may be ready to use/own a device, and how to establish healthy digital habits. Here's the website that shares the program's information:

This grant is worth $1,500 for our STEM PTA! We will be using it for STEM Night and bringing STEM opportunities to as many of our classrooms as possible.
