Wow! What an exciting few weeks we’ve had at the Grove! 🦦 We hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend. 😎A warm welcome back to our Track 2 teachers, staff, and families! We also wish our Track 1 families a wonderful and restful track out.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our families, their relatives, and friends from near and far 🌎for your generous contributions to The Big Splash event. 🌊 It was a tremendous success! Thanks to your support, the PTA has already purchased new soccer goals for the playground—the same goals used by the NCFC youth soccer league—ensuring our students have the best play equipment.⚽
Our students were delighted to see Ms. Benton kiss Mia, the pig, 🐷and their facial expressions as they entered the Media Center were priceless! So were their facial expressions after Ms. Benton kissed Mia!
Looking ahead, this year's Reflections contest is approaching quickly. The theme is "Accepting Imperfections," 🎉 we encourage all students to participate and showcase their creativity across six arts categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. Students may enter in one or more categories. For rules and entry requirements, please refer to the PTA section of the Newsletter below.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to classroom and club wishlists. We still have a few remaining club needs; details are available below. Our students are thoroughly enjoying their first-semester clubs, and we welcome more volunteers, even if you can help for a day or two.

We always welcome volunteers at Oak Grove! If interested, please review the WCPSS volunteer approval process HERE. If you were approved as a volunteer during the 2023-2024 school year, you can renew your approval for the 2024-2025 school year by October 1st.

Attendance Spirit Week
Regular daily attendance at school is crucial for every student's success. Being present each day allows students to engage fully in learning, build strong relationships with teachers and peers, and develop essential skills for academic achievement and personal growth. We know consistent attendance fosters a positive school culture and sets the foundation for lifelong habits. To celebrate the importance of being here daily, we invite all students to join us for Attendance Spirit Week from September 9-13! Let's come together to show our commitment to learning and have some fun while we do it!
HELPS Tutoring
WCPSS partners with Wake Ed Partnership to recruit volunteers to provide tutoring sessions for students using the HELPS curriculum. The HELPS curriculum is an evidence-based fluency curriculum that has been recognized in the What Works Clearinghouse - the US Dept of Education Database. It is structured and scripted and can be implemented by trained volunteers. Volunteers will work with students 1:1 in increments of about 20 minutes. All curriculum and data-tracking materials will be provided to volunteers. Volunteers will receive 4 hours of training and at least two coaching sessions to ensure implementation with fidelity. Attention All Oak Grove Elementary Artists from Grades 3, 4 & 5!
It is time for our annual YEARBOOK COVER DESIGN CONTEST! This is a unique opportunity to showcase your creativity in designing the cover for the 2024 - 2025 yearbook and leave your lasting mark on this year’s memories. The theme this year is ALL TOGETHER, WORK TOGETHER. By involving students in this process, we are not just creating a memento but nurturing future designers, artists, and creative thinkers. We look forward to seeing our young artists' captivating creativeness this year. Your child may come to the office and get a contest page, or you may download them using the links below.
